The addition of a dining experience was very nice and super good food. Being right at the entrance of the state park was really good. Our only discomfort was probably with the heating and cooling system. Tried for two days to cool the room down on the upper floor and still seemed kinda warm on the hot days. It definitely wasn’t unbearable just a little humid at night. Otherwise this place is a must see for sure and we will definitely be back one day. Breakfast was excellent: cheese eggs, grits, apple cinnamon oatmeal, blueberry mini muffins, cinnamon raisin toast, bagels, yogurt with real fruit, and whole fresh fruit. Way more than you would expect at your usual hotel continental breakfast. We took a stroll around the historic grounds and sat by the New River for a bit. Today we will rent bikes to ride the New River Park Trail. We have vacationed in VA many times, but this is our first stay here. So glad we found it. The check in only took a minute, easy parking, and our room was beautiful! In fact, the entire Inn is outstanding. The bedding was soft as were the towels, and everything was spotless. Because we made dinner reservations elsewhere, we did not enjoy dinner at the Inn but the breakfast had a nice variety, was hot and delicious! Check out was simple and we were on our way.
