Plan a visit to Talloires-Montmin to discover a charming green village overlooking Lake Annecy. With its spectacular views of the water and the scenic undulating terrain surrounding it, the town is an excellent place to walk with your family. Relax on the shore and let the water lap over your feet, as you pick out the landmarks overlooking the lake.
Among the highlights of Talloires-Montmin is the Abbaye de Talloires, a gorgeous Benedictine priory dating back to the 11th century. Stay in the hotel set up in this historic religious site, which has a 19th-century décor and is backed by a forest-covered mountain.
Head north and a little inland to the Château de Menthon-Saint-Bernard, an enchanting hilltop castle said to have inspired Walt Disney. Look around its majestic chambers and corridors and let the period furniture take you back to a bygone era.
Enjoy the stunning views of green hills and the lake during an afternoon at Lac d’Annecy Golf. Work on your swing on the course’s nature reserve and sip cocktails from the clubhouse bar. See it all from above by paragliding with the tour operator Les Passagers du Vent, which offers a range of courses from which to choose.
Hike out into the bucolic countryside, where many of the locals make a living from farming. Climb to the top of a hill and breathe in the fresh mountain air, with views of the Alps in the distance.
Note that the town is a combination of Talloires and Montmin, a pair of localities that merged in 2016. Talloires-Montmin is perched on the eastern edge of Lake Annecy in the Haute-Savoie department. Drive southeast around the lake for 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) from Annecy to get here in about 20 minutes. While in the region, travel to some of the surrounding towns, such as Saint-Jorioz, Sévriez and Thônes.
Talloires-Montmin seems to exist in a fairy-tale realm with magical architecture and exceptional terrain.
