I’m glad you enjoyed the location, decoration, artwork, etc. and I’m sorry that you had a hard time carrying your luggage up the stairs. We try to be completely forthcoming about the external stairs up to the deck and entrance in the listing, and so I will reiterate it here: this is not a good fit for anyone who has difficulty with stairs. We would much rather you stay in our ground floor apartment or somewhere else if this is an issue for you.

It rarely snows here, at least to that extent, and when it is predicted, we leave salt out for the stairs, which we did right at the bottom of the stairs. We're happy to help with that if someone prefers, yet these guests offered to salt the stairs when I alerted them to the snow prediction. (Though it wouldn't have been our favorite thing to do on Christmas eve with our two young sons, we would have absolutely come over to help if the guests indicated that they would have wanted this, or we could have just as easily asked our resident manager. Passive-aggressive is not a language we fully understand.) There's really no need to shovel the walkway since the parking space is right at the stairs, but we do have a snow shovel available at the property if someone wants to do that. FYI to future guests: When it snows here, Asheville is often not fully prepared, so residents and guests alike might be snowed in until they get the roads salted later in the day. We live about five minutes away and are always happy to help whenever called upon. (And do bring gloves in wintertime!)

Thank you for staying with us, Kelly and I'm glad you enjoyed the apartment. I do think I give fair warning about the stairs. In fact, this is the second sentence in the listing description: "Entrance to the apartment is behind the house, up a flight of external stairs (steep, so this is not a good fit for people who have a hard time with stairs) to a deck overlooking yard with shared fire pit, flower and vegetable gardens." I bring this up here not to be nit-picky, but to point out this element of the apartment for future guest. Additionally, if this is reason for 4 instead of 5 stars, I don't think it's quite fair. I do my best to fully educate guests about as many details of the apartment as possible so that people can be confident that their experience will match (and hopefully exceed) their expectations. That said, I invite feedback so that I can continually improve the experience for guests. And the yes, parking can be tricky if you have a extra large vehicle. The 5th sentence in the listing description is this: "Off-street parking for one car, (the driveway to the parking lot can be a bit tricky; you may need to back out when leaving, or feel free to park on the street in front of the house. Usually there are plenty of spaces there as well.)" However, I believe that most people find the parking satisfactory, according to reviews. Please read the description in its entirety before booking. I welcome any and all questions from prospective guests,
