Staying here did not disappoint. It was the perfect location to go into the city for the day, or make a quick hiking trip. It was nice having a place that had a homey vibe to come back to, to relax after a long day rather than a hotel room.
My only trouble was that the house had low ceilings, and my husband, who is 6’2, could not comfortably move about the place, so keep that in mind if you’re tall.
I also felt a bit deceived by the pictures when it came to privacy because you have to walk through the main houses backyard to get down to the cabin and can be clearly seen while doing so. The pictures on the site show pictures down the pathway, but cut out pictures of the main livings backyard and start back up at the gate. Although there is a gate to give as much privacy to the cabin, if people staying in the main house go down to the water, the gate ends and the privacy is gone again. It would make for a few awkward run ins if both places were booked at the same time.
Lastly, I do wish the check out instructions were more descriptive. It only says to take the trash out to the road and to be out by 10. If there truly is nothing else to worry about (stripping the beds, gathering the towels, etc) I wish it’d say “no need to do anything else.” to be more clear.
If you’re looking for a nice, quaint get away, I’d say this is your place. The owners are kind and easy to work with, the views are breathtaking, and you might get lucky like us and see a few otters.
