"The staff were incredible and so helpful. The cabins are open air; just screen windows, so if you hate being damp, this is not the place for you. There are also a lot of ants, so don't leave ANY crumbs unattended. Location and garden were amazing... Definitely a "roughing it" kind of stay, so be prepared, and bring waterproof bags or ziplocks for your electronics"

"If you are an outdoor enthusiast enjoying wild nature and camping like experience then this cabin could be a great lodging option for you. However, if your expectation is quality hotel standard accommodation then this property might not suit you. "Let me start with the positives, the only thing accurate about the advertisement of the facility is the description of the 4 pools and the amazing view. Yes a picture is worth a thousand s words. The shuttle does run continuously as stated 7am - 10pm. There are a few amazing staff member that go well above and beyond. Maria and Gaston pool and restaurant bar tenders great, Jean who runs the romantic dinner and works dinning amazing, Olman towel station /shuttle driver great. Not so positive, common problem every guest shared was the false advertisement of the 2 restaurants and the 25+ pictures of the food. A restaurant is a place where you sit down, read a menu and place your order, or order from a counter. Dorito is a breakfast lunch and dinner buffet with 90% of the food the same every day lunch & dinner. 2nd common complaint, it list 4 bars - only 1 is open 10am-6pm, and the other 6pm -everyday they run out of alcohol and the drinks are massively watered down. As a 74yr old guest said she got more of a buzz off a cup of Pepsi They do not even have wine. There is a liquor stirred in walking distance, in which, most guest bought their own. 3rd common problem, the facility is sold out but only have 14 chaise longe chairs and 8 are broken. Guest are told to go to the beach or sit on a wooden dinning chair at the pool. So not only is it byob it’s also byoc. Which now brings us to the beach, only a few chairs but you have to get up at 7am to get a chair there or by the pool. "

"The view from the balcony and pool is amazing although there are a few areas that the hotel could improve. The room aesthetics could improve. There was nowhere to sit but the balcony. No iron/microwave in the room and the closet lacked doors. I understand the decision to serve authentic Costa Rican food at the breakfast buffet but a variety of other foods could make it a bit better and tasteful. It was great to have shuttle transportation and all the drivers were super friendly! If the shuttle ran roundtrip all day that would make it better. It only ran for the first 15 mins of every hour. There were times we were done with our walk in town and had to wait for a good 20 mins for the shuttle. "

"Just got back from a stay at Shana. Both the property and staff were fantastic. They went out of their way to help us… with things related to coming and going, setting up outings for the day that kind of thing. They are responsive to questions asked over the net/expedia which is something other places are not. Much appreciated. Also much appreciated is their handling of our late check in and check out. The hotel is on a fairly steep hill, so bear that in mind if mobility impaired… that going from your room to the pool/restaurant/reception might be tricky. This is offset by the golf carts that staff regularly have on hand to drive people up and down the hill, much appreciated by my mobility impaired wife. There is a beach that is walkable from the hotel, there are tents and chairs available to rent there along with kayaks and other equipment. It is swimmable and it is snorkel-able (not as clear as I am used to but still very nice to be able to do from the properly). The restaurant is great, the food fantastic and the service quite attentive. I only have smaller things to be constructive about related to the kitchenette part of our room, like the stove not being levelled and one of the clips for the top of the fridge’s water dispenser missing. It was a great time, the kids loved it and would readily recommend it. I actually just spent the wait before the last flight telling another family about how nice it was. "
