Your Perfect Base for Year-Round Outdoor Fun

No matter what your sport - hiking, fishing, mountain climbing, skiing or snow boarding - Half-Pipe Hideaway is the perfect spot for your base of operations.

ABOUT HALF-PIPE HIDEAWAY

With this cabin being so close to the snowy mountains, we're calling all skiers and snowboarders to come stay so they have a place to escape to after a fun day on the slopes. This cozy spot will comfort a single skier or a small group of friends.

Just a few minutes drive from downtown Packwood, Half-Pipe Hideway is surrounded by miles of trails in the Tatoosh Wilderness. It's only 35 minutes from the White Pass ski area and just a half and hour from the Stevens Canyon Entrance to Mount Rainier National Park. Should Mount St. Helens beckon, you'll find that's also an enjoyable day trip from this cabin.

Whether you're looking to explore the wilderness, see elk around town (or, possibly, in the front yard), fish for trout, hike or ski at a world renowned ski resort, this is the place for you.

Situated among beautiful trees, this cabin is a nature lover’s paradise. The interior emulates the same style of mountain-inspired beauty that you’ll find outside, but with a modern twist.

The home opens up into the well-lit living room, with a cozy fireplace, an artistically crafted antler chandelier, a large, flat-screen TV and plenty of seating area. The wood accents illuminate the space with a warm light.

You'll also find a dining area and the kitchen, giving it the cozy quaintness that's perfect for two to four guests. The cottage has a comfy, queen-sized bed with a full bath and washer and dryer. The living room sofa opens to a queen-sized sleeper to accommodate two more.

WHAT GUESTS HAVE TO SAY

“The cabin is cute, cozy and just five minutes from town, so going for for groceries and supplies is no big deal. The firepit in the back yard is a fun way to relax with friends or family.” – Debbie

"This cabin is a great little base camp for outdoor activities all year round. This area is like a road trip to heaven." – Trina

MORE ABOUT HALF-PIPE HIDEAWAY

The kitchen space contrasts perfectly with the rustic style of the rest of the cabin by having innovative appliances, black vine maple cabinets and laminate counters. You’ll find all the pots, pans and dinnerware you will need for a hearty breakfast or relaxing evening meal.

The location of this home is perfect for the outdoor enthusiast, who'll find access to myriad outdoor sports -- including skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, fishing, boating, plus going rock-hounding in nearby mineral deposits or panning for gold. Up to two dogs are welcome with our standard, per dog, per night fee.

Convenient and comfortable
This cabin was a wonderful home base for visiting Mt Rainier and the surrounding attractions. The kitchen was small but very capable which allowed us to comfortably prep meals. Check in and out was done through the phone; all the relevant information was emailed to us in the days leading up to our stay.

Great place!
My husband and I stayed here a few nights while visiting Mt. Rainer National Park. It was a wonderful get away. It had everything we needed and was a fantastic place to stay. We really enjoyed the space.

Medium
Pros: Pretty furnishings, close to Mt Rainier entrance, fairly well kept up. Cons: Much smaller, less personal, and less private than places we’ve stayed for the same price that are also close to a national park. It felt impersonal because you go through a phone service to check in or out or to get help. They made a mistake on our booking, so we had to go home a day earlier than expected. The cabin is nice but full of signs about what not to do, but without important instructions for things like working the finicky tv and shower, and without the little touches that often make rented homes nice such as old books, games, and movies or recommendations of where to go nearby. The biggest negative for me is the bathroom. It’s so small that everything had to be very close together. The toilet is so close to the sink that I (embarrassingly) smacked my head on the sink when leaning forward. My husband had the same issue, and we had to pay attention throughout the week to make sure it didn’t happen again. The tub has very high sides, so I ended up smacking my knee on it whenever I got in. Definitely wouldn’t work for someone with mobility problems. I tried to look on the bright side and enjoy a bath in the deep tub, but the knobs are finicky and the shower kept turning on whenever I tried to use the hot water. Last thing of note, we found one dish that was clean-looking and put away with the clean dishes but smelled truly disgusting. Ended up rewashing all the dishes.
