Great place if you are not chemically sensitive
The owner is great and the property is beautiful. I did email before booking to ask if fragrances were used in laundry, air fresheners, or cleaners and was assured they were not. However, there was a plug in air freshener, scented candle and the undersink cleaning bottles were all conventional products. If you are not sensitive to these toxins, you will have a lovely stay. I had a massive headache and kidney pain the entire time. The owner tried to help but I just don't think they are aware of how harsh these chemicals are. The location is fabulous and I am sad we won't be able to stay again.

Magnificent property with views
This is a magnificent property with views of open fields and the mountains along with cattle and horses. The owners were welcoming and helpful. The cabin was immaculate. The bedrooms are a very nice size with an open living concept living room and eat-in kitchen for gatherings and a lot of space upstairs if you need to sleep a larger group. Easy access to BLM land and Salida and Buena Vista. The south branch of the Arkansas River is right there. We were fascinated watching the cattle and horses. It was such a peaceful setting to spend time with family. We loved everything about our vacation. Thank you!

New favorite spot in the Arkansas River Valley!
I visit the area a few times a year and stay all over from Leadville to Salida. This is my new favorite! Absolutely gorgeous views, including the horses and cattle on this working ranch. Perfect cabin layout and great outdoor area. Host was awesome to work with. Can’t wait to visit again.

Quick Weekend Getaway
We love the area and looked for a place that would fit our family of 5 comfortably for a quick weekend getaway. It worked perfectly! There were plenty of beds and bathrooms, great views, and of course the overall location was perfect. We would happily stay again!

Cozy Cabin in the Mountains
The cabin is beautiful along with the surrounding property. The cabin is clean and is built with limitless details that make it beautiful. There is a captivating view of the mountains. They also have sweet horses on the property that you can see from the windows and the porch. There are plenty of towels and a clean laundry area. The property manager is very kind and helpful. They had to plow snow for us while we were there.

Mountain-cabin-style perfect for the setting.
The house was rustic, charming and uniquely wood log top to bottom. Even much of the furniture was log and branch made. There was more than enough room for our group of six adults. Kitchen/dining area had all the needed amenities. A another comfortable living room chair or two would have been nice, but we took turns with the sofa and one good chair in the evenings. The bedrooms were too warm at night so discuss thermostat and window opening issues with the owner when you arrive. Dean was very nice and accommodating so I'm sure he would have worked with us if we'd asked. We just forgot about it until trying to sleep. We enjoyed hiking the property down to the river and hanging out with the friendly horses in the field. Dean showed us where to get through the electric fence and have us free rein for hiking around his property. The rough winding drive to our cabin was fine in our good weather. Not sure how it would work for smaller vehicles in wet or snowy conditions. All in all, the house and location was great for our skiers and hikers and town explorors. We had a great time!!! Thank you Dean for your great hospitality!

A Slice of Heaven
The Past Office Ranch is by far the best place to stay in and around Salida. Beautiful cabin with very comfortable furnishings, and did I mention the scenery? Only 15-20 minutes to Monarch. Great place to stay!

Comfy cabin with views and location
Dean has a beautifully kept cabin with a front porch for sitting and looking at the mountain range. A few miles from downtown Salida and Monarch ski resort. The cabin is well stocked and sleeps 7 comfortably.

Incredible Property!
The description of this property can't even begin to explain how amazing it is! Quite possibly the most beautiful location we have ever stayed! The cabin was outstanding....very clean and comfortable. The view from the porch is amazing. The river running through the property and the fishing locations it has are amazing as well! Not to mention how welcoming Dean was. Extremely friendly and made our stay extremely pleasurable. Do not hesitate to book your stay here...you will absolutely not regret it! We cannot wait to stay here again!

The Perfect Cabin
We LOVED our stay at the PO Ranch. Cabin was exactly as pictured and very clean. Beds were comfortable and kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. It was very quiet, peaceful and private and the view from the back porch was to die for. We spent a lot of time enjoying the view from the rocking chairs and watching the cows graze. Location is out of the way enough to feel "away from it all" but close enough to plenty of sites and things to do. It's an easy 25 min scenic drive to Buena Vista where we hiked, explored ghost towns and the Midland Railway tunnels, and rented a 4x4 for a day. We also did the Monarch Tram which was only about 20 min away on Hwy 50. We ate breakfast and dinner in every day, but there are also tons of restaurants to choose from in Salida and BV. We were a little warm in the two downstairs bedrooms the first two nights and could have used fans, but after that the wind shifted and it cooled down and we were very comfortable. We felt very safe leaving the windows open at night. We also did laundry one night in the small outbuilding which has 2 washers/2 dryers and was very convenient. There's a beautiful fire pit with big Adirondack chairs which we didn't end up using due to rain the last couple nights. Next time! Thanks for everything, Dean. Not sure when, but we'll be back!

Great place with beautiful views and near town.
This was a great spot, secluded on a ranch near Poncha Springs and Salida. The benefit of being near enough to town and also getting an unobstructed mountain view from the back porch. We enjoyed coffee on the porch in the mornings and star gazing at night, with mountain sunsets in between. The interior is as advertised and with lots of amenities if you want to cook. Great place and we'd stay here again.

The Grizzly Adams cabin had everything our family needed and was in a great location to hike in the Arkansas River Valley as well as a short drive to the Sand Dunes. We also enjoyed fishing and playing in the creek on the property. Everything was as described and we had a wonderful day!

Remarkable Ranch
The Ranch was a perfect getaway for my family. The hit for the adults was the craftsmanship of the log cabin and the gorgeous mountain panoramic view. For my grandchildren, the hit was the horses and cows😀. Dean was kind and very accommodating.

Wonderful vacation on the ranch!
Our family (5 adults) thoroughly enjoyed staying on the ranch. We were close to stores and activities were not far away - hiking, rafting, dinner and shopping in Salida. We made use of the grill and fire pit, and enjoyed watching the cows and horses. The cabin had everything we needed, and the view from the porch was a highlight of every morning!

Great experience and close to the slopes
We had a great time skiing at Monarch mountain and the location of this cabin was great. Clean, spacious and quiet. The laundry room was nice with big washers and dryers so we could pack less ski clothes and just wash in between days. The kitchen was well stalked and the beds were comfortable. The property owners are very friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

A few fishing buddies of mine and I always go on an annual fly fishing trip to Salida and have stayed at the Post Office Cabin. Dean does a great job in keeping the place neat and clean and a very easy check-in process. Always a nice stay. Looking forward to next year!

Gorgeous cabin and location!
My husband, SIL and I spent two nights at Post Office Ranch and had a really great stay! The check in process was easy and Dean met us to sign the rental agreement and give us a walk through of the cabin and property. The horses on the ranch were friendly, as were the adorable (and affectionate) kitties. It’s a short walk to the river that runs through the property. The Grizzly Adams cabin was incredible - extremely clean and very well equipped (probably one of the best kitchen setups we have experienced in all of our many rental stays). The cabin could easily hold multiple couples comfortably. The wrap around porch was delightful to sit back, unwind and really soak up your surroundings. The mountain views (and fall colors) from the log rocking chairs on the porch are hard to beat! We even had a few deer visit one morning while we drank our coffee. The large dining table was perfect for an evening in, or a fun night of cards/games. Just outside the front door was the gas grill, a fire pit with chairs and the laundry setup in the out building was quite impressive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Post Office Ranch and will certainly be back. We are looking forward to the grass fed ground beef we brought home from the ranch. Thank you for letting us stay!

Great views from the deck.
We visited relates in the area. They unit is a very nice log cabin on a ranch. Great views and near everything. We rented a Jeep and went over Tin Cup Pass. I fished the private ranch river and landed 16 browns in two hours. The largest was 13”. We will definitely return next year.
