This place is the most ghetto place I’ve ever stayed at. White stuff all over the black bedding, no coffee in room but coffee pot in the room. Paint on the walls looks ghetto.

The bedding is stained from other guest that do not care what they tear up! If you needed anything, you only needed to ask and we would have helped! The rooms are freshly painted and not at all "ghetto" as you called it! We try to provide great service for everyone, but not all guest are as good as you! Thank you!

The staff at the spillway motel and BAIT SHOP were friendly and helpful. we arrived super late at night and check in was not a problem. Our room was not clean, you could feel grit on the floor and a spill in front of the refrigerator was dried to the floor. beds were made but one mattress was heavily cupped in one side and the support was terrible. the tv worked fine and there was a working microwave and refrigerator. There was also complimentary coffee, single cup coffee maker. The only saving grace was the location was super close to the lake and park our event was at. Im pretty easy to please and I'm sure, with a little extra effort on the managements part this place could be acceptable to most anybody. the price was cheap by any standard for mid summer.

Below “No frills”
The place was a dump. The ceiling was sagging so bad which makes me think of tons of water damage and mold. The shower wasn’t too clean as I could see globs of soap on the wall. Bed was very lumpy and the springs were poking me. Both bedspreads had spots all over. The lady at the front desk was very nice though. The AC worked great!

Initially booked through Expedia . .. dates didn't match up but they had a room. For $67.00 a night it was a place to sleep. One bed had stains on the sheets so we had to sleep on the sheets covered by the blanket with the "comforter" on top. Very close to where we had to go fishing. Not a Marriott but it did what it was supposed to do!!

Room was clean and you could smell the bleach on the pillow cases and sheets - the patch job in the drywall was very poorly done in the bathroom and the microwave was dirty but overall it was a nice stay I would go back and it is right next to the river I went out to smoke and I could hear the water coming out of the dam it was relaxing just wished I had a chair to sit outside and enjoy the sounds of nature. Overall it was a nice stay 2 thumbs up 👍👍

totally bad night!
We arrived on Friday night. Check in was quick. We arrived in our room and that's when everything came to a head. The room stunk, the carpet was dirty, and the bedspreads were just plain nasty. The bathroom needed cleaning badly and the door wouldn't close completely. We checked out the same night. We paid for 2 nights and didn't stay for one. We got 1 night re-payed.

You would have paid for a full night at any Motel/Hotel that you would stay at! We were not told about these issues otherwise we would have fixed it right away. You can leave all the bad reviews you want but, you did not tell us any of that. You should give people a chance to help and then leave bad reviews! God Bless You!

We arrived at the hotel and we were told they had no vacancy and they did not have a room for us even though i showed them my reservation from hotels.com. thankfully our friends that had a campsite were able to accommodate us for the evening.

Your issue is with the 3rd party which is hotels.com. You should ALWAYS check your reservations through a third party! We have no control over them sending us the reservation. Your reservation WAS NOT sent to us. TY

Room was filthy and looked liked it had not been cleaned in months. Room was infested with flies which front desk said is normal due to location near woods. Bedding was stained and dirty, floors were dirty and had dead bugs scattered about. Entry door looked like it had been kicked in due to a large piece of the door frame missing inside. Rear window had broken locks and could not be secured properly. Garbage was left from previous occupants in room and fridge. Bathroom was filthy and had dirty towels. Even the flatscreen TV had blown speakers. Left a day early as the room conditions were so bad. For a motel under "new" ownership that supposedly has been renovating for the last year I don't see any signs of any updates or basic cleanliness. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

We have only been "new' owners for 2 years and have more than half our rooms renovated completely, with my husband working a full time job on top of this Motel Stained linen unfortunately can not be helped 100%, we do our best to catch it. This is a fishing and working Motel and stains happen on a daily basis. As I discussed with you personally we are surrounded by woods and water and we are all OUTSIDE ENTRANCES! I also offered you a solution when you addressed this with me. Next time try a solution before jumping on the hate wagon. God Bless you in your future travels!!!!

If you are going to go boating or fishing perfect place to stay. Plenty of space for your car and boat. Large regular refrigerators in the rooms are a HUGE plus to keep your fish. 2 minutes until you drive to the boat ramp. Older motel owners are in the process of fixing. Comfy mattress. Nice people.

Yearly family gathering at Lake Shelbyville.
The host and cleaning crew were very accommodating and friendly. It’s seems the owners are always trying to make improvements to the motel.

Service was good. The Motel definitely looks better on the outside. The floors needed to be mopped. There were a lot of bugs in cobwebs that should have been cleaned long ago. There was a lot of wear and tear on the rooms, which some could be addressed. Towels were very thin.

This property is very dated but perfect for fishing/hunting parties. I wouldn't take a female here, but other than that it's good. The new owner is awesome and they have bait onsite with a small tackle shop.

Dirty METH BUG HAVEN
Hotel of horrors!! Dirty doesn't even begin to describe the rooms. Holes in doors, mold in the bathrooms, dirty bedding, towels, pillows etc. Bugs!!! DEAD Bugs and live BUGS everywhere! BLOOD ON BEDDING!!!The hotel had meth addicts and prostitutes in and out consistently. When staff was notified of dirty bedding, they were very rude and handed me yet another dirty blanket. I would never ever stay there again! This hotel made Rob Zombie horror movies hotels look fabulous!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

It was awful the room was for my daughter and her family and I was ashamed to have them stay there but had no choice they need to overhaul the place don't think they have done anything to it since I was a kid it needs a lot of work there was one staff member that was very helpful gave her a dirty room when we checked them in and it was bad for me to say anything about it I don't ever give bad reviews

We have made changes, the room your family was in has a new laminate wood floor. Yes there is still work to be done. We have only been here one year , that being said, it does need a lot of work, which we are busy on as we speak. Ty for staying with us. Have a blessed day.

The property both inside and out was terrible. Trash sitting around, door standing open, front steps falling apart, guest worki g on car in the parking lot. Owner met us at the front desk eating a powder donut. The floor had more dirt on the inside then there was outside. The towels were stained with who knows what. Not only will I never stay at this place again, I would also discourage any other person from staying there.

We are surrounded by water and woods, we are a fishing community. Our Motel Office is also our bait shop, hence the name "Spillway Motel And Bait Shop." As for the car being worked on, it only took the guest 2 hours to fix their car, this could have happened anywhere! ALL of our guest are important to us and if anyone needs help, we are there, that's what God put us o this Earth for, was to help other people the best way we can. have a blessed day!

I didn't like all the long term renters that were living in the motel. It seems to have grown and I get people have to live but it's just unusual. One of the underaged people asked us for a beer. Thankfully one of their friends spoke up and said she wasn't of age. It was just unusual. The new owners seem really nice. We hope they keep the property up. There were no fisherman with boats in the parking lot, which was really unusual. There were new signs up saying quiet hours start at 10pm too. They didn't bother us when we were playing some low music outside between 10-12pm. I liked that I was able to get a fishing license right in the hotel office, that saved me a trip.

Unfortunately we are unable to stop guest from talking or asking guest for anything unless we are told. We are currently and have been in the midst of renovations. As for not being very many boats, unfortunately we have had a lot of rain which has dampened the fishing season so far. However, the rain is clearing out and we are filling up.
