Alert Bay is on a small island. The facility is centrally located with a restaurant and is adjacent to the RCMP station, liquor and grocery store. The amenities are great for families and it also has a beautiful view of the ocean. The owners were very accommodating and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

You could tell the place was something quite special in its day but I would say that day has gone. The room was dated but clean however was not cleaned again during our 2 night stay and had to go down for towels. Bathroom was tiny, on closing the door I nearly fell into the bath while negotiating squeezing between bath and toilet. The bar had music blaring until 10pm with few people in and due to the location and type of property as a place to book for peace and appreciate the scenery having this did not really go with the ambience. On checkout I wasn’t asked whether I enjoyed my stay which to me is a basic requirement of front desk to get feedback.

The property was advertised as having a riverside view, however the river has rusty metal sheeting along the bank so not a nice view. There was a lot of noise around the pool from maintenance and traffic noise from the next door bridge. We stayed 3 nights and were surprised the room wasn’t serviced at all. We asked the chambermaid and she said they only service the room before and after a stay not during. It was a nice hotel and convenient location but we wouldn’t stay there again.
