History

Goldy and his Gophers last won a football national championship in 1960, and there have been some tough years since. But the resurgent Golden Gophers are back in regular contention for NCAA Bowl games. One of the toughest tickets to get is for the annual game with the Wisconsin Badgers, where the winner is awarded Paul Bunyan’s axe. Legends like Bronko Nagurski and Tony Dungy got their start in the frozen climes of Minnesota.
