One of the newest and greatest sports venues in Pittsburgh, PPG Paints Arena has room for up to 19,100 fans who gather for all kinds of thundering spectacle. The home court for the NHL Pittsburgh Penguins, this complex hosts basketball games for both the Pittsburgh Panthers and Duquesne Dukes in NCAA Division 1, along with performers like Paul McCartney, Katy Perry, and Justin Bieber.
Since it opened as the Consol Energy Center in 2010, the arena has hosted events that ranged from the SEC–Big East Challenge to the 2013 Frozen Four, and saw 4 years of arena football with the Pittsburgh Power. Duquesne used the space to host NCAA Basketball Tournament games in 2012, and the tournament came back for 2015 and 2018.
