"Fantastic truly 5 star hotel!"
Wonderful hotel in fantastic location. Excellent staff. After a mix up with our dinner booking we were upgraded to an Opera suite which was out of this world. Luis, the butler, was marvellous and nothing was too much trouble. The most comfortable bed we have ever slept in and the shower, which was also a steam room, was amazing. Truly a 5 star experience, thank you!

"Wonderful break in a great city."
We really enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hotel Amrath. Arriving by train from Schipol, it is only a short stroll to the imposing hotel. Check in was smooth and efficient and we were allocated a large ground floor room with a canal view. Perfect. On arrival day we enjoyed walking round the central shopping area. The next day we walked (about 2km, 40 mins) to the Van Gogh museum (book tickets online before you go and avoid the queues), then on to the excellent Food Hallen. Third day the concierge explained how the Metro worked and we went to the Amsterdam Arena - which is also surrounded by shops. On our last morning we took a boat ride round the canals. All punctuated by swims in the hotel pool, which is only 10m but has a Jetstream button so you can do long swims against the water jet. Plus Jacuzzi and saunas. I think that we may well be back one day!

"Nice hotel with great views."
Very pleasant room. Beds quite hard and pillow a little thin. Shower disappointing low pressure. Hairdryer not very powerful and too hot. Bathroom door was glass swing door so could not lock! Everything very clean, towels lovely.

Evening meal excellent. Ate there 3 times. Service charming and attentive. Breakfast of eg bacon and egg served COLD on hideous cold black plates. Orders for coffee forgotten, prawn omelette served cold with uncooked, inedible prawns. Hash browns had been cooked in oil previously used for fish and therefore inedible. Ordinary FRIED potatoes COLD. Service polite but incompetent. Same for 4 days, very disappointing.
