“A unique hotel experience”
We stumbled across Suly Resort quite by accident, but are really glad we stayed. The hotel is a 5 minute drive out of town, which we preferred as Ubud centre is pretty noisy. The resort itself is a little dated, as its rather extravagent design hasnt been maintained through the years.
However, the rooms were very clean, and the service was excellent. The newly opened organic restaurant that serves 3 meals a day is fantastic, amazing food and inexpensive. The resort is home to many underpriveleged 16-18 yr olds who get the opportunity to live-in, attend school, and also gain work-based training in hospitality to set them up for their future. We volunteered to teach an English class one morning which was great fun for us as much as the students. We also attended the free yoga class each morning with qualified instructors from round the world. The resort offers creative classes, such as cooking, painting and wood carving. there is also a health spa which we didnt have time to check out! In all, we really enjoyed our experience and would have loved to stay for another week or so to get more involved in the resort's activities, and to work our way through the menu!!
