“Surprisingly good”

The location was great, about 2 blocks off of Las Ramblos - "the place to be". It was on the "wrong" side of the avenue however and not where the rest of the hotels were. It was where the locals live and hang out. But the hotel security was impressive and my daughter and I felt safe walking to and from the hotel. The price was affordable. The hotel had an elevator and if it wasn't new it was certainly renovated recently. The room was small but clean. The bed was firm and comfortable. There was a fan in the room along with AC that helped keep the room cool. The was a great bathtub and it had a shower. We didn't use the shower however because it came straight out of the middle of the ceiling and using it would splash all over the bathroom floor. Continental breakfast was included. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

“Just what we were looking for!”

Went with a few friends for a weekend break. We were a little dubious about what to expect after reading some reviews, but our fears were unfounded. As often mentioned, the hotel is in the red light district, but we didn't feel uncomfortable at any point, even arriving back at the hotel in the small hours. In the daytime the square outside the hotel is pretty busy, and not intimidating at all. Location is very good, a few minutes from the main street in Barcelona, Las Ramblas, and about 4-5 minutes from the nearest tube stop. A couple of small convenience stores within a minutes walk. Our room was adequate, a little cramped with three beds, but then we weren't looking to spend loads of time in the room anyway. Bathroom was fine, shower was ok. Room was cleaned every day. Couldn't really ask for much more for the price we paid! We would have no problems with going back if we go to Barca again.

“Would stay again”

I had a pleasant experience while in Barcelona. The Hotel Barbara was very clean and the staff was extremely helpful as well as bi-lingual. The Hotel was centrally located to many attractions, although the "red light" district was right around the corner. The prostitutes will harass you the first day, but will leave you alone after you inform them you are not interested in their services. Some may even greet you as you pass by their corner. Be careful when you walk alone at night or are approached by strangers asking for directions, the Police are very aggressive in Barcelona and will give you the once over if they think you are there to buy drugs. Over all I enjoy my stay at the hotel.

“Great basic accomodation”

We loved our stay in this clean, well run, secure hotel. We found the staff polite and attentive. The rooms were spotless and cleaned daily. The hotel is a mere two minutes walk from Las Ramblas and all the main connections and attractions. It is, unfortunately in the city's "red light" area but we walked past certain characters without harassment and felt perfectly safe. We can thoroughly recommend this hotel and would use it again.

“Great hotel for a stag do”

Stayed here June 2007 for a stag do. PERFECT location about 200 metres from the Ramblas. It is in the red light district but the atmosphere was relaxed and it was not scary at all. Hotel is very clean and reception staff were very helpful with ordering taxi's etc.

“Gem of a hotel tucked on a quiet street”

The staff is friendly, nice and extremely helpful. The rooms we stayed in were spotless. Exploring the old city and harbor area very easy, close to many restaurants and attractions - walking distance to most, metro acces less than 5 minutes away! Only drawback: noise from the "working girls" & their clients just around the corner...Still, we saw families & even some locals staying in this hotel...I would stay here again as it is a worthwile bargain!

“Great for price and location”

again, great for price and location. though it resides next to a corner that is occupied by many prostitutes. once they realized we were not customers, no big deal. walk to most everything in the gothic section and the waterfront. only 2 blocks from las ramblas and subway stop. hotel was very safe, even if the 'hood felt otherwise.

This is a tiny hotel in a dodgy neibourhood. the prostitutes (working women) didnt bother me but if your looking for a nice quiet or or romantic or quality place this is NOT the place. It has an amazing location and very friendly reception and rooms are clean.

“good location, not so good”

The hotel was very near the Ramblas but i was a little bit dirty in the zone. it was a zone that has new changes like parks, but there was very nice to have such a centric hotel and also in a good price. It was very close to the street of the ladies that work at night. It is not a fancy hotel but if you are not looking forward luxury it is good. Pictures tells you everything.
