Lovely stay. Due to a last minute booking problem with a lesser star hotel on Lido, we ended up booking here. It was more costly than I had originally planned, but several factors made it ALMOST cheaper than the other highly rated hotel. First, the included full buffet breakfast was excellent. Second, the free shuttle that runs hourly from the hotel dock to San Marco saved us several Euro that we would have had to pay each day for multiple trips across the Laguna to San Marco had we stayed at the adequate, but cheaper Lido hotel. The Excelsior’s water taxis run hourly most of the day and we could have taken their shuttle from San Marco on our night of arrival had it not been for a delayed flight that brought us in after 2230 (last Excelsior shuttle from San Marco to the hotel is 2310. So with debarkation from airport and 7 minute walk to Alilaguna taxi line, we took that water taxi line form Marco Polo straight to Lido. If you can afford the 130 Euro per passenger for private water taxi, good for you. But we took the Alilaguna at 27 Euro (Including return each) to Lido. We arrived at Lido Dock and using the map I had of the hotel location, we walked about twenty minutes in the dark to the hotel. (Late at night it seems like a remote walk, but this is a very safe island and we passed 8 or 10 local walkers and bikers, even after 2300.) Staff was fluent in multiple languages and was quite good with English. The room was appointed well and if you are not on a budget, you

I arrived after multiple delays and re-routings from New England in the US - 27 hours to get to Venice from CT! So, I was tired and worried about getting my taxi and called the staff at the hotel who had already arranged for a taxi for me and, when it took the taxi driver a long time to get me to their hotel, called me back to make sure I was OK. They had vapporetta schedules and gave me good advice about which one to take and when the boats left. They gave me advice about where running routes were. They were very friendly and warm. The dining room is charming and the view is gorgeous. The food was excellent - both breakfast and dinner. They supplied a water heater and instant coffee in the room as well as a hair dryer in the bathroom. There is no iron or ironing board in the room as a word of warning although this is not unusual in older European hotels it seems.

Staff very helpful-provided all necessary transport and things to do in Venice, breakfast was pleasant, plentiful and slightly varied on both days.
Bedroom kettle seemed a bit dodgy but otherwise facilities fine. Not sure about air conditioning as we didn't need it.
Welcoming to our children.
Would stay again.

Only downside was that it was situated at the furthest part of the Lido and was a half hour bus journey to the vaperetto.
Buses ran every 15 mins though and you were guaranteed a seat as it was near the start of the route.
Hotel, room good, clean, tidy , toilet/showering very clean.
Breakfast was typical continental fare. Ham and cheese rolls with cakes. Fresh and plentiful.
Staff were friendly enough.
There were a couple of shops, minor mini market kind of. Ice cream shop. Three bars, not British bars sadly. Also a resterant where we had meals. Very tasty and about 8 to 10 euros per meal. Oh filling as well.
Must have a transport 24/72 hour ticket for buses and vaperetto. Easy system to use. One and a half hour from Santa Lucia to the hotel. One hour hotel to st marks.

Venice’s beach neighbor, Lido is 20 minutes from San Marco by waterbus. By the late 19th century it was the smartest bathing resort in Italy. Today, the 18 kilometer-long sandbar is still popular with families enjoying the warm Adriatic beaches. The glitzy Venice Film Festival is held in Lido every August - September.
