Viva Mexico!

Posted Mar 24, 2015
Pros: The entertainment and meals were very good. The staff were conscientious, considerate, friendly and did everything to make our stay enjoyable.
Cons: Free wi-fi for guests would be most welcome.
Location: The location is in a beautiful part of Mexico's Baja California. Peaceful and serene.
Mexico is an amazing experience and we were very pleased to spend time there. The people are hard-working, talented, and beautiful. We were especially impressed with the friendliness and eagerness the hotel employees demonstrated every day.

Nice Resort but Management Needs An Overhaul

Posted Mar 24, 2015
Pros: The location, the people that work there.
Cons: The many items I have listed.
Location: Sunset cruise, art walk
We recently vacationed at the Royal Solaris with two other couples. The resort is quite nice and the rooms fairly comfortable (although one couple said their bed was as hard as a rock). The food in the a'la cartes was (mostly) very good and despite there being only two, the menu at each restaurant changed so it wasn't the same every day. The staff, particularly, Alfredo at the adult pool, Yanet in the lobby lounge, and Oscar and Paco in the a 'la cartes were exceptional. Unfortunately, there were several things that got the best of us. 1. There was a terrible sewer smell in lobby area and lounge that continued for several days. We brought it to the attention of the front desk staff more than once. One time they acknowledged there was a problem, the next time they weren't aware of a problem. It was so bad, one night in particular we couldn't even sit in there, which was unfortunate as this was the only bar open after 6. 2. There were extra charges every time we turned around - $15/per day for wifi; $1/day for the safety deposit box; member only theme nights (3/week) that were an additional $55/person; menu items in the a 'la cartes for certain dishes. 3. The late night snack bar that was supposed to be open every night from 10pm - 12:30 a.m. But never was. 4. The dress code that wasn't. I'm not talking about men in dress shorts, but flip flops and t-shirts with extremely inappropriate sayings on them. 5. The catering to "members" - we paid for a vacation, too.

The hotel was very clean. The food was very good although the setup for lunch was lacking. Lunch was served in a smaller location thereby causing wait lines. Also the relentless push to attend the "membership" sales pitch meeting was aggravating.

Okay hotel for traveling on a budget

Posted Mar 23, 2015
Pros: None
Cons: More restaurants and should have one open 24h for guests come late at night or leaving early in the morning
Foods are so so. Not much options for dinner as other all inclusive. Concierges are nice and friendly. Our concierge was Giorgo, he was very friendly and helpful. MOST DISAPPOINTED was front desk experience. Always there's a long waiting line. Plus front desk staff are not friendly and judging guests English accent when they have strong accent themselves; not trying to understand guests. When we checked out, the staff asked how was our stay; when I said I was not happy with the front desk service he was not happy and replied in an very rude way.

Nice hotel for families on a budget

Posted Mar 20, 2015
Pros: Kids club (Every where was kid friendly) All inclusive drinks The nightly shows/parties Pool entertainment
Cons: The food The pressure to tip More chair availability by the pool
Location: We only took a 15 minute walk to the shopping center but I'm sure there was more around or with a short taxi ride
When we first arrived I was disappointed in the service (Watered down drinks, unaccommodating staff, weathered down facilities). But as days went by, the resort improved for me and my family. The staff really respond well to a few dollar tips every now and then. That being said, we felt a huge pressure to tip almost every time we ate or drank anything. I've been to other all inclusive hotels and the pressure to tip wasn't an issue. The food was disappointing but not horrible. One of the things I did like was the Kids club. We have small children and they enjoyed the activities the staff provided and it gave us parents a few hours to enjoy adult time. The kids also enjoyed the water slides and kid pool area. Overall, I would suggest it to families with young children who are on a budget but still want to go on a vacation.

Do Not Stay Here

Posted Mar 20, 2015
Smells really really bad. Food is mediocre at best with poor selection. They ran out of food constantly at the buffet and were slow to replace. Time share ppl are annoying. Solaris members get special treatment over non members totally annoying. Positive: kids club is great and entertainers and lobby bar staff are great
