We got private car service to get us from the Airport to the resort and were playing music and immediately upon arrival we were not greeted but rather told to turn down our music. Front desk staff were unenthusiastic. Our best meal was at the buffet for breakfast. Most restaurants require you to get on a line 30 minutes prior to opening to get a spot. Otherwise, you are given a pager or are unable to get in at all. Rooms are outdated but they were clean. The only issue was that one light switch controls the entire room including outlets. Mini fridge was never replenished during our stay (4 nights). Room service should be discontinued. Pools were gross. No upkeep. Cups all over the place at all times. Pool tiles were slimey and visible mold in grout. Seems like they do not wash/pressure wash the pools regularly. One pool literally had foam on the surface. Leaves, debris, and other particles floating around. I did like that they had multiple pools though. Beach was beautiful and great view. There are minimal beach chairs. Most are located behind the cabanas. Sad that is the view you get when the resort has such a beautiful view. No beach umbrellas. If you want chairs/umbrellas you need to go down the shoreline to the swimmable area. There are a lot of vendor's selling items/services. They can be pushy but they are respectful. The landscaping is upkept well. The resort is beautiful, super clean, and the views of the ocean are amazing. The room was spacious and on the quieter side. The pool is nice, but noisy. The quieter pool on the northern side was a little cold. The staff is friendly and helpful. Lol Seriously, everything was awesome. It was our first time at a RUI property. Too bad the ocean isn’t available due to currents but it was a source of great natural entertainment. Crashing waves etc. Staff are all amazing. Kind and accommodating. Every tourists dream. I would absolutely seek out RUI hotels / resorts in the future. We requested a room change and then they placed us on the far left side on the 4th floor. Much better and peaceful! Perfect view of the sea and Los Arcos. We did have an issue with two lizards getting into our room one day when the patio door was opened (during room cleaning). It took staff one hour to get to our room after several calls and finally talking to the manager. My wife was not very happy with that experience. They compensated us by getting our names on the guest list with the very popular Medano restaurant which we enjoyed Ribeye steak and Lobster our last dinner there. Buffet food was delicious (both breakfast and dinner). We did try the Mexican restaurant (tasteless food). I did have two Mezcal mixed drinks there that were tasty and helped me down the tasteless food. The sea was kind of rough that mid-week. So waves were crashing down hard. We had to walk about 20 to 30 minutes to Medano beach area to jump into the water. Water was cold but not freezing cold like SoCal water. I got used to it quickly. Waves came in quick and could push you into the water. So be careful. Also, quick waves can get your items wet if you are not ready. Pool was perfect! Nightly entertainment was awesome! I have to give a shout out to all the cleaning staff in this hotel - if it was not for them it would not be the resort it is. The front end staff and so polite and helpful. There are a couple of names to mention, Irma and Sal in the buffet, Raul one of the food servers and Elizabeth and all the staff in the lobby bar. The noise levels are untolerable. Drunk people screaming at all hours. Although they say the Santa Fe is for the parties the people at this resort were very disrespectful. When I would advise the staff at the RIU they said there was nothing they could do. I can honestly say I will absolutely return to this riu as out of the other 3 I have stayed at this one is by far the best .the management obviously is on top of everything as this shows in the staff’s attentiveness even at spring break when the resort is at capacity and I’m sure are tested on a continuous basis.
