First trip to Jamaica

Posted Sep 20, 2014
Pros: food
Cons: air conditioning, and mosquito controll
Location: bars shopping sightseeing
Don't know where to start so I will tell you something about us. We are somewhat experienced in the caribbean all inclusive thing so we are not experts that know it all nor are we the wide eyed everything is incredible first time outa Nebraska folks. Check in was a 10, fast with the cold towel and tropical drink. The room was a 9 very cool tree house style just like in the pictures, very quiet they are buit in pairs back to back so there is very little noise tranfer room to room. Staff was a 9, very friendly, helpful, all seemed happy you were there, other places we have been would only rate maybe a 5 so the staff really is really good. Beach, 6. Kinda small but not crowded with people at all, 20 or 30 and half of them are pot salesmen they will hound you constantly just stay back from the water a bit , There is an invisible line the beach performers and dope salesmen wont seem to cross. Beach bar 8, beach grill 9 the jerk chicken is yummy. Food was a 9, yes 9. Most all inclusives are tasteless but pretty style. Not here. Hotel main lobby and buffet area 6. Neat rustic look not the marble covered extravaganza of the DR. A/C 5 , needs more quality a/c in dining areas. Pool, nice looking couldnt tell you much about it (they have a beach) swim up bar available. Mosquito fogging needs to be done more they are hungry. Bottom line we enjoyed ourselves very much it is a really good hotel with an exeptional staff, without hesitation we would return.

Had problems, but turned out ok.

Posted Sep 13, 2014
Pros: very short walk to a great beach.
Cons: additional ceiling fans in main dining room and lobby bar.
had to change rooms. first room had air conditioner that didnt stay cold and dripped water on my face. Also had room cards fail. Took maintenance men 2 hours to fix while we were trapped in our hot room. Moved to newer unit and it was much better. Cold air, keys that worked the door. Resort is small. Air conditioning only in your room. Food choices limited but good. Servers pleasant, some more than others. Having a beach bar and grill is the best. Steps away from the water, I believe it is probably the only resort on bloody bay that offers this. Will return when I need to unwind.

Wonderful experience

Posted Sep 10, 2014
Pros: The treehouse cabins The pool and swim-up bar Beach Staff gardens restaurant
Cons: My only request would be that the rooms have more light. It was pretty dim and hard to read and find things in the suitcase.
Location: Within a quick taxi ride into Negril Very close to the private beach
This resort is just beautiful. The setting is intimate and lush, with perfectly manicured tropical gardens all around. The food was excellent, the drinks were strong and staff was more than accommodating. The private beach is just across the road, with a nice path to get there and a private crossing guard makes sure you are safe. The beach is lovely and the bar and grill are perfect.

Nice hotel for a romantic get away

Posted Sep 5, 2014
The hotel architecture is unique, the rooms are simple but clean. The staff is friendly and attentive, the buffet and bar are average. Try to make a reservation for the restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised about the upscale quality and the great service compared to the regular buffet. If you like to eat in an AC cooled restaurant this hotel will disappoint. Restaurant as well as the bar area are open air and there are only a few ceiling fans. The beach is on the other side of the main road, which you cross with the help of a guard. Scuba diving possible right off the hotel beach.

Incredible people, food. Jungle/beach combo resort

Posted Aug 21, 2014
Great place for a honeymoon, anniversary celebration or great romantic get-away. Not your average Jamaican beach resort. Incredible jungle landscaped quarters off the beach let you feel very secluded and in your own world, yet still have a perfect and private sandy beach to swim or explore many different water activities. The people who work there are incredible. The food was absolutely amazing. Most of it was very healthy, but it was difficult to stop eating from the buffet it was so good. The chefs table was a great interactive dinner experience. Bars had great drinks and as many as you'd like. Only thing to note: Since it is in a heavily planted tropical paradise, bring insect repellent. The resort does try to keep it at bay, but it's inevitable. If you want this lush landscaping and amazing environment, nature comes with it and thus you get insects. Just plan accordingly and 'no problems mon' RESPECT

Nice hotel, friendly staff.

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: The staff was very friendly and the grounds were beautiful. I liked the private beach for the hotel plus the activities they offered.
Cons: Put actual windows on the rooms closest to the highway to block out the road noise or put a tall wall up outside the grounds to block out the noise.
Location: Most of the activities we did were hours away. The hotel did offer kayaking and paddle boats for free on their own private beach which was nice.
Our room was beautiful, the grounds were beautiful and the staff was friendly. The room could get a little hot, however, as long as you turn the ceiling fan on, the room would stay cold. There are only wooden blinds covering a screen for the windows which allows a lot of outside noise in. Our room was right next to the highway which made it extremely hard to relax or sleep. Plus there was a very bright lamp outside our patio which made it look like it was daytime at night. If we were to get a different room that was not so close to the highway, I would say we would stay at this hotel again. However, based on our experience, I would say we probably would not even go back to Jamaica again. We were unable to relax or sleep.

Beautiful and enchanting

Posted Aug 6, 2014
My husband and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary at Sunset and we could not have asked for a more romantic, enchanting, beautiful experience. The garden is immaculate, our room was private and so comfortable, the staff were extremely warm and helpful. The beach was heaven and the resort made the beach experience even more fun and comfortable. I cried when we had to leave. Love, love, love Sunset at the Palms Negril.

Cons: Air conditioning control more user-friendly in the rooms Air vent in the bathroom (it gets too hot to put on makeup) Add another mirror in the room
My husband and I had a great time at this resort. We didn't know what to expect but we were very pleased overall. I think that the excellent service is what makes this experience wonderful. It's great for couples because it's private with the beach right across the road. We really loved the beach grill also!
