Not worth the money!

Posted Apr 27, 2015
Pros: The location is close to town and Lake Estes.
Cons: Customer service and housekeeping! The name "Stanley Hotel" no longer means class and elegance since staying there. It means disappointment.
My girlfriend and I wanted to treat our daughters to a nice girls weekend in Estes Park. We spent a little more and splurged on the 2 bedroom condo. We figured we would get the full "Stanley Hotel" experience. When we arrived and checked-in, the people at the front desk basically handed us our keys and a map--no welcome or assistance with luggage. When we got into the condo, we found the bed on the first floor half-made and no pillow cases, missing coffee maker in kitchen, dirty dishes in washer, no hangers in closets, dirty bathroom counters! When we called to notify front desk, they said they would bring pillow cases and coffee maker along with hangers--no mention of the dirty bathrooms. We went into town and out to dinner--when we got back, still had not received items promised. I walked over to front desk and again, explained situation. They gave me 2 drink passes and their apology. 1.5 hours later, the items arrived from a very angry employee! As if it was our fault for wanting the basic amenities! On the morning that we left, we all went for a run and came back to shower before checking out. Only 2 people got a hot shower--third person took warm shower and no warm water left for me to shower! I drove home a sweaty mess and had to shower at home. The front desk person did discount the room by 20%, but at the end of the day, I could have stayed at the comfort inn and had a hot shower and a free breakfast! Paid 4x basic hotel and didn't even get that!

Pros: The history and views
Cons: Faucets & tub drain did not work properly
Location: Great location close to national park - beautiful views of mountain & town
We stayed in a standard room with a great view. Staff was very friendly & accommodating. The Stanley is an old old hotel so it is expected everything is not perfect. It was a fun place to stay!

Stanley Hotel

Pros: The bed was very comfortable..the history was great to read about and the antiques fun to see.
Cons: FIX the rooms up...replace stained furniture and fix the loosing hanging wires on the heaters( and put the covers back on them.)
Location: They have tons of shops intern that are set up for tourist. We ate a cool Pizza place (Bobs) and it had a fireplace, pool tables and game machines..
The hotel is beautiful but also in a state of disrepair . Our television would not play the movie "The Shinning" . their solution was for us to move across the court yard at 11 Pm that night. I asked for them to please just change out the television. Finally they moved us to a suite. It was very spacious but the couch was stained up and in bad shape ! The old heating things at the baseboards were all apart with wires hanging out. The bathroom was clean, the bed was fantastic but no air conditioning. Even thought this was in January it was HOT. We opened the window as far as it would go to no avail as far as cooling the room off. They have BIG fans in a closet and we plugged one of those in. This all would be okay if the price matched the conditions and they did not. This place is way over priced. They sell "The Shinning " movies and T-Shirts, hats and other things ( even chocolates) but the movie was not filled there. The ghost tour is mostly about the movie that was never shot there. My suggestion is to go though and tour the hotel but find a cheaper place to stay. Oh and be sure to park early in the day or those that come to drink at the bar (that are not staying there) will take all the parking places and you will have to walk a long distance to get back inside ! Thats if you find a place .

condos at Stanley Hotel

Posted Feb 17, 2015
Pros: Roominess.
Cons: Room service was not available for the condos. Also, no literature for amenities. Had to call for WiFi codes.
Location: We were there for the ghost tour at Stanley Hotel. But lots of other activities around. Had difficulty finding place to eat late Sunday evening.
Beautiful condo! Lots of sleeping areas, kitchen well stocked with cooking and eating necessities, but no condiments. Gorgeous master bathroom. An additional 1/2 bath upstairs, and another full bath downstairs. Lots of TV's and sitting areas. Loved it!

beautiful setting

Pros: old stuff
Cons: Food was nothing to brag about and over priced. A more common menu would help. Something more on the lines of the early 1900's.
Location: town and lake nearby.
Loved the Hotel and it's furnishings. Staff were pleasant.

Friendly staff, clean hotel, clean bathrooms, comfortable beds. Lots of historic memorabilia on walls. Restaurant bar was delicious. Beautiful grounds with wild elk roaming around. Skip the ghost tour and walk around yourselves.
