Hotel had no record of our reservation and said they were all booked for Labor Day weekend. Not sure whether the problem was with the hotel or expedia but it was very stressful after a long flight

Nice, cozy place.

Nice, quiet hotel even under kids "pressure". Cozy, clean swimming pool, friendly, polite staff. Specious room, very comfortable beds. The only bad thing - our electronic keys needed to be fixed almost every day.

Came in at 2:30p.m. to ask about early check in and was told check in would be in about an hour (confirmation said 3 o'clock). Came back at 3:05 and was told there was no king room available and wouldn't be or at least an hour or two or maybe not at all. We were then offered a room with two queens that we had to accept since we had to be somewhere at 4. Explained that we had to understand that this is a busy time of the year. Would not stay there again.

Terrible experience

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: The whole experience needs an overhaul. Terrible, invisible management, unempowered employees.
Location: Beaches, race track, restaurants. Solana Beach is awesome. This place is terrible
It took over 30 minutes to check in due to computers being 'down/frozen'. We were finally given a room and offered free breakfast. The room overlooked a dumpster that was being used for hotel renovation. Chemical smells were everywhere. Masking tape was on the door that had apparently been painted or renumbered. When we called to ask to be moved, we were told we couldn't move but that they could give us free breakfast. No thanks. We left

Pros: Convenience
Cons: (Being worked on)
Location: Very close to the fair/racetrack grounds. Close to many restaurants, salons, etc.
The hotel is/was actually under remodeling/upgrading. Your staff gave my husband and I a remodeled room and it turned out to be absolutely beautiful. The hardwood floors were gorgeous as well as the backdrop and couch. Furniture was all new. We wanted to go to the races for our anniversary and your hotel had a shuttle that took us there and picked us up. The driver was super nice and funny. She was communicative on when and where she would pick us up (which enabled us to have some adult beverages). I didn't give you a 5 on "room comfort" only because we can hear a lot of what was going on in the hallways and we actually heard a television from the room next to us (which was communicated by your staff but we chose that room anyway). Also, really couldn't give you a 5 in the condition of your facility due to construction. There are restaurants in walking distance and a mini mart next door. If you're looking for a safe trip, this is the place for you. It was a great weekend for us and I will definitely go back!

The hotel was being remodeled, our "balcony" faced a parking lot with empty beer bottles and a rat trap. Our keys had to be reset everyday because they kept not working. It costs $12 a day to park there but no continental breakfast. The breakfast place is only open until 10am but runs out of a lot of things early. I got locked in the pool area. The staff was as helpful as they could be and very friendly though so I will give it that. It is close to the beach and has a shuttle to the del mar race track but don't be 2 min late because they leave without you and won't come back.

Renovated but issues remain to be fixed.

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: Location, newly renovated, budget friendly
Cons: Hallways need new carpet; pipes in the garage ceilings need to be secured
Location: Del Mar; Race track; Solana Beach; Design District; Encinitas
Understand that this is a Courtyard Marriott. If you are looking for a 5-star experience, you are in the wrong hotel. Whoever was working at the desk Friday night 7/18 - friendly smile and great service! OK, on to the room: it was newly renovated and looked modern. The bed and pillows were clean and comfortable. In room refrigerator and microwave - another plus. Your experience with the bathroom will probably be different from mine, since we got a handicap type. The bathroom was clean, but other than the sink, I don't think they did anything with the tiles in the remodel. We were in a H-type even though we did not need one, and it had a roll-in shower - good if you need it, but otherwise, it created a mess on the floor when we showered. Also because of this configuration, there was a big drain in the middle of the bathroom. The bathroom reeked of some kind of cleaning chemical covered up by some nasty "fragrance". I assume it was coming from the drain. It was gross, whatever it was. Last thing, and if anyone from the hotel is reading this, please take note and fix the problem: Secure your pipes in the garage! The pipes on the ceiling of the garage oscillate and I can hear them squeak every few seconds from my room upstairs - it was a bit annoying. On the other hand, I was expecting to hear the elevator, being close to it, but did not.

LOCATION is perfect.

Posted Jul 6, 2014
Pros: the location and staff.
Cons: possibly more staff during peek hours.
Location: Everything is in walking distance.... Great location!
The staff here was excellent and the locations of the hotel was superb. We walked to the Del Mar Fair then to the Del Mar Dog beach. For dinner we also walked to a great italian restaurant called Crush. Due to the renovations I gave the hotel conditions a pleasing. Otherwise, very happy with my stay. Will come back again.

Convenient location and good amenities.

We liked our stay, and liked the restaurant. Thanks for posting the calories- I always appreciate that - and the hours were convenient. The only unpleasant issue was the smell of the microwave. Everything else was great. It was a quick drive to legoland and seaworld, and of course it was close to the beach!
