Great location and big rooms!

Posted Oct 6, 2013
Location: This hotel is across the street from the beach and less than a mile walk to the pier. It is easy to rent a bike with lots of places to ride.
This was our first time at the Santa Barbara Inn. We were told at check in that we would be the last guests in our particular room because the Inn is undergoing renovations. When we got to our room, it looked just like the photo on the cover page, except you could tell that it was a bit worn out. The carpets and wallpaper were well worn and ready for an upgrade. But the room was large, the bed was very comfortable and the view was outstanding. We were fortunate to have a room facing the beach. It was wonderful to wake up to that exceptional view. We are looking forward to returning after the renovations are done. We had a great vacation!!

Wouldn't return for another stay

Posted Oct 5, 2013
Water leaked from bathroom ceiling at 3:00 in the morning and when told about the problem the response was simply sorry to hear to hear that. I would expect when you pay over $200 for a room that maybe they would have done more than we're sorry. Won't stay here again wouldn't recommend it.

Great location

Posted Oct 1, 2013
Pros: Location / cleanliness
Cons: Safe could be included in hotel
Location: Beach across the road...walking distance to Fishermans' Wharf and central restaurant strip. Easy access to central shopping in State Ave
Great location and well presented hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff who went out of their way to assist with places and things to do. Enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely recommend this to place to friends.

Cons: Have an ice machine on every floor.
Location: I loved my segway experience! That was so much fun! Thanks Zachs!
The hotel was within walking distance to everything. Shuttlebus's available if you don't feel like walking.

Really need to upgrade the breakfast buffet

Posted Aug 28, 2013
Pros: Is was directly across the street from the beach
Cons: Even if you don't change the food offered at the buffet, it would be nice to have real plates and silverware.
Location: Was about an hour to wine country - had a very nice time there. Liked that the hotel was just across the street from the beach.
The breakfast buffet was really lacking - paper plates, plastic utensils, etc. Wouldn't take much to make it so much better. Hotel room was decent, but definitely just basic. Was not quiet - could hear people above, people in hallway, and outdoor traffic. Location made it a long walk to main street, but was do-able.

Needs Updating and Cleaning

Posted Aug 26, 2013
The location is great, right across from the beach, but room was disappointing. The carpet was badly stained, the bathroom had chipping paint and needed more than a surface cleaning. There is no airconditioning and the screen on the window was missing, resulting in an uncomfortable night's stay.

No air conditioning, filthy carpet and old.

Pros: Close to beach.
Location: Beach and that was it!
Very disappointing for a lot of money. No restaurant walking distance. Internet was bad and very humid room!

Great Location!

Couldn't ask for a better location. Directly across from the beach. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Valet parking was only $7/day. A little dated, but very clean and pleasant. Everything was in good condition - not run down. Great breakfast.

All pretty average

Posted Aug 16, 2013
Cons: Beds are too soft and furnishings showing wear.
Location: Close to freeways. About a mile from the pier and a bit further to the harbor.
Everything about this hotel was so so. My husband and I wanted a few days to relax and unwind in an ocean-view room. Got a room that had some views, but was ruined by the pool and balconies with very little privacy. Most rooms seem to have balconies or patios which sounded good, but since they all are on the same side and you can see each other from the sliding doors, it was not private at all. The building is a bit older and the rooms and furnishings are looking its age, although seemed clean. The bed was way too soft for us, although we liked the linens and the pillows. We did like the fact that the freeway entrance was close by, as well as some shops. We will probably not go back; instead, we may settle for cheaper inns closer to the harbor (giving up on privacy altogether) or dole out more $$ for better views and setting. The complimentary Continental breakfast was also average; enough to get you going in the morning, but nothing to rave about.
