Convenient hotel and a little out of the ordinary, good breakfast buffet

This was our second stay at Hotel Astoria. There is a story behind the unique design of this hotel. It is located right out the front door of the central train station, and near Tivoli and the center of town, so it is convenient for those who don’t want to walk far with baggage. The desk persons were very nice, friendly, and helpful. The budget priced rooms are small, but clean and acceptable for a short stay. Wireless internet was okay late in the evening, but agonizingly slow in the morning with (I assume) many more people using it. The Danish breakfast variety and quality are excellent.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Close to Tivoli and central train station. A short walk to Town Hall Square, and the entrance to the shopping street. Surrounded by a variety of restaurants. Did I say, close to the train station?

Okay but not great

This hotel is very basic, and its best quality is its location - right near the train station and a walking distance from everything. However, if you’re planning a relazing vacation in which you stay in the hotel - this one is not your choice. The hotel is very basic - small rooms. However, the breakfast is good, the people are nice and helpful - and, as I said, it’s very convenient for people who want to se Copenhagen and don’t have much time.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Tovili gardens, Stroget (shopping street) - and don’t miss a canal boat ride. GThe royal castle with the crown jewels is also a must.

Location, Location, Location

The over-all appearance of the hotel does not fit with the expectation for a 3-star hotel. The room was small, and sparsely furnished. However, the hotel staff was extremely nice and helpful. the breakfast was great. It is located right outside the Central Train Terminal, and close the the Radhutset and Pedestrian Street and Tivoli, so the location really can’t be beat.

Not impressed

Hotel is very close to the railroad tracks so you hear incoming trains all night. And hotel was under constuction when I stayed there which was another group of noises starting at 6am. The only benefit of this hotel is that is was very close to Tivoli

OK, but not impressed, very noisy

During the construction around Copenhagen main station it is very noisy at night. They actually do the work at night due to the train schedule.

Acceptable accommodation, good breakfast!

Having spent a week in Copehnagen, it is a very expensive city! This is reflected in the price of everything from food and drinks to hotel rooms. Given this, the Astoria hotel is reasonably priced for what you get. It has been repainted and renovated, and the room was clean and comfortable, if somewhat spartan (typical Danish design). The one drawback was noise. We faced away from the train station and were on the second floor, so could not hear the trains. However, over the weekend there was a LOT of traffic that drove past the hotel all night, and also a large number of drunken people shouting in the street! We kept the window closed all night, but it did not keep the noise out. Breakfast in the hotel is very good - a nice selection of cold meats, pastries and breads, and it stayed open till 11 am.

Location over luxury

Don’t let the grand name fool you. The Astoria is a 3 star hotel and that’s what you get. The location is great, though - just outside of Central Station. If you’re looking for a clean and safe room at a good price this is it.

Great Noisy Location

The location of the Astoria is great but the hotel is under construction as is the railway station next door. That and trains buzzing by every few minutes only meters from your room make it necessary for industrial strength ear plugs. The included breakfast was exceptional with a wide variety of quality staples including all-you-can eat Danish pastry and bread.
