Nice hotel and location

Good hotel, good service. Pick a room with a balcony (north tower). Really nice views and relaxing. Rooms are a little bit small, but the balconies make up for it. Roy’s is excellent. Room service is overpriced. Even Starbucks and Hertz on site charge more than their normal locations. Expedia package deals for this hotel are sometimes a great buy. I got this hotel cheaper than the group rate for my conference. San Diego is an awesome city.

Rent a jet ski in San Diego Bay. Lots of fun. Also make sure you go to La Jolla Village.

Great stay.

We chose this hotel for our stay while attending a conference at another hotel. This hotel had the better rate through Expedia and allowed us to walk to the conference location on the board walk. The view from our room was delightful, and the staff was helpful and friendly. Would definitely go back.

Hotel is beautifully situated at the Marina. Pool areas are clean, very scenic. However, the bar is not so hot. You need good bar tenders both in the hotel and at the pool area.

Perfect Destination Hotel!

We debated between 2 different hotels and were extremely pleased we chose the Marriott. The facility was beautiful, staff was exceptionally pleasant and it’s location was perfect. The Old Town Trolley stop was at the base of the drive way, the city transit trolley service had a stop across the street, and we were within walking distance of the Gas Lamp Quarter as well as Sea Port Village. If you’re traveling to San Diego and don’t want to rent a car, this is a perfect destination hotel! And the view of the bay was incredible!

Great marina access! Close to Seaport and Petco with own boat to Coronado. Would diffinately stay again.

Never slept better

I never really traveled outside of my state, which is sad, and the last hotel I went to was more budget friendly. My girlfriend went to this hotel the previous year for a business conference and stayed here for free and said the hotel was great. I took her work and booked a flight to San Diego and 4 nts over here. I couldn’t afford the balcony which I wanted but I figured it was okay. Well, turns out I still got a balcony with a view that was mainly city but some bay. It was great, especially taking naps with the door open or on the balcony. The bed is very comfortable. A fridge and microwave was available on request which proved useful seeing as most nearby restaurants charge 15-20 a plate which is a little much on my wallet. Television was an older tube tv but it had decent channels. The walls weren’t as thin as some reviews claimed. I had no problems but you will wake up at night when a freight train passes by and sounds the horn. The pool is a nice place to relax with the nearby waterfall. I never used the spa but my gf said it was a delight. Whenever I called room service, I was promptly helped. Even when I didn’t call like when a lamp was burned out, the bulb was changed same day. Overall a very good place to stay.

As always, check out Balboa Park with museums galore and the San Diego Zoo. Just be sure to check the map as I had no idea the Wild Animal Park was 38 miles away and I had no car. If you want to see some animals not enclosed, take a ride on the Seal at Seaport Village, just be sure to tie up your hair or put plenty of hairspray as it gets very windy on the ride but you’ll be provided with an up close view of Sea Lions and Pelicans.

great hotel with kids

The hotel was very clean, nice lobby and truelly excellant location. Close to the Gas lamp district where there are lots of nice restaurants. Also close to HOrten Plaza for good shopping. The kids absolutly loved the pool, and there were lots of kid friendly activities for them, like movie at the pool. Roys food is excellant at the hotel, and also breakfast Buffet at LC’s is really good and reasonable they charge very little for kids too. Overall satisfied, I ould not say this is a 5+ star hotel but very clean and attractive.

Do the bike rides, family 4 person bike, you can rent them from hotel, very cheep and cool for the kids. You need a car if you are planning to go to LegoLand or the wild animal park, cab ride is expensive. Cab ride from airport to hotel is only $12

Great Family Stay

We enjoyed are stay at the Marriott. It was close to everything and the staff was helpful. It is a busy hotel but we loved being in the middle of everything.

You must eat at Richard Walker’s Pancake House. It is a short walk from the hotel and it is wonderful.

NOISY

The walls were so paper thin that I got the full drunken conversation of the next door guests at 4:30 am. If you aren’t concerned with noise and sleep, this is a beautiful place to stay.

Perfect Location, Perfect Hotel

I will never stay at another place in San Diego other than here. I have zero complaints. Beautiful location, beautiful hotel, fast friendly service. Walking distance to many, many attractions.

Wonderful time and can’t wait to go back.

Enjoyed the hotel and the area very much. We had a great room with a partial bay view. We can not wait to go back some day. This is the hotel where we will stay again. All of the staff was so helpful and friendly.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Make a trip to Ralph’s grocery store a few blocks away and stock up on snacks, drinks and breakfast items and you will save yourself a lot of money. Hotel food was good, but very pricey.

Rooms were very dated

We had booked for a Saturday night initially and decided to go a day earlier (Friday). I called Marriott and extended our reservation by 1 day. I was assured over the phone that there would be no problem. When we got there Friday night the hotel only had the reservation for Friday night, but not Saturday. We explained to the person checking us in that we had reserved for both Friday & Saturday. She was helpful in clearing up the mix up (so we thought). On Saturday we went out for lunch and came back to a message in the phone saying to go the front desk which we did. They didn’t have the reservation for that night for us. It was very frustrating for us because we had to deal with our reservation issue the whole weekend. Both days were paid in full prior to our arrival at the hotel and it was never really cleard up completely. The rooms were dated, but you couldn’t beat the view of the bay. For a Marriott I expected more....

Would go back

The room was very comfortable and hotel was conveniently located to downtown. The customer service was excellent. The pool area was very crowded on the weekend. It was impossible to get a beach chair especially by the pool. The prices at the hotel were outrageous, drinks, food and parking. I would stay there again because of the location and customer service.

Beautiful location.

This is a very well maintained hotel in an absolutely beautiful location. No car needed because it’s very close to everything in the Gaslamp and the trolly can take you everywhere else. Be warned that this is a convention hotel so when it is full of convention goers, the elevators are extremly slow and at times waits can be very long. Other than the problem with the elevators, I would stay there again. Great pools, housekeeping was excellent, easy access for running along the bay.

Great Location and an even better pool!

This hotel was a great experience for my wife and I. We stayed the weekend and didn’t have to leave the hotel for anything. There’s great restaurants and bars along with the best pool in San Diego!

Rooms were clean and comfortable. We were close to the trolley station and within walking distance of several attractions. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Seriously - no wireless? in 2009?

For a hotel located next to a convention center that does business meetings, I couldn’t believe this Marriott property doesn’t have wireless internet in the hotel rooms, and that the service in the lobby was spotty and very difficult to use with a Mac. Even Marriott’s least expensive properties have wireless internet. My business trip was much more difficult without it. Otherwise the hotel was fine. The facilities are nice, the location is good.

This hotel is right on the water in downtown San Diego. Just steps away from seasport village and the gas lamp district, plus the train stops in front of the hotel. Hotel has everything you need and more.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The Gaslamp Quarter is a short walk up the street and the pool at the hotel is outstanding. Staff was polite and helpful. Room was spacious and very comfortable. TV channels are limited but when you are in San Diego you should not be inside watching TV!

Conveniently located to trolley and easy walking distance to Convention Center, GasLamp District, and Seaport Village. Hotel staff very accommodating. Balconies provided great views.

Way over priced for the quality expected!!!

When I arrived, not one of the bell hops that were all standing around offered to get my bags. Arrived in room and there was trash in the can left from the last folks that stayed in the room!! UUUGHHH!!! Then the cleaning person left a brush they used to clean??? in the room on the bathroom sink counter still wet with ????.....NASTY!!!! The rooms were not very clean that’s for sure. The elevators were not all working so had to wait in excess of 10 minutes (usually longer) to catch a ride. The view was good but otherwise you’d be better off at a Motel 6!!!!
