Loved this place

The room was spacious, comfortable, clean, with a huge living room, and a deck with a nice view of the sun setting over the ocean. It’s a short walk to the beach. (If you have difficulty walking, be aware that you have to climb a short set of stairs to get back from the beach.) There were lots of nice restaurants in the area and the condo has everything you need to cook. This would be a great place for a family to stay or a few friends. I loved it!

Great Condo

This was a beautiful place to stay. The condo had the most beatiful view of the ocean and creasent Island wher the snorkeling is so good. There were plenty of restraunts close by to choose from and the pool and hot tub were great. I would stay at the aston hill again if ever in Maui.

We Loved Room #35 and We’ll Be Back!

We thought this was the best view we had ever had. In addition to that, it was clean, quiet, and had a very friendly staff. Everything you can think of was at our fingertips. We look forward to returning soon! It could’nt be in a better location! Room#35 is the best!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Kihei is a great town bordering Wailea there are great beaches, shops, and pleanty of places to eat. Lahaina is a must do trip as is The road to Hana and of course; Haleakala’s Sunset! Maui is truly "The Magical Island". If you love to snorkel, then a boat ride to Molokini will take your breath away!

Comfort

Lots of room and very nice hotel ground. It has everything a house has. The ground floor unit we stay was a little bit dark. Next time we want the ocean view unit.

Excellent choice!

We were very happy with our choice of staying at the Maui Hill. The condo we had (unit 36) was very pleasant: huge floor plan, cathedral ceilings, a big balcony with an unobstructed view on the ocean, very clean, nice furniture and decoration (comfy bed, although the sofa bed was not as comfy), kitchen with all necessary appliances (even a washing machine!), so we felt really lucky (we had paid for the "ocean view" upgrade). The service was really good too, very friendly people at the reception desk, efficient maid service, and we took advantage of the presence of the Expedia rep on site to book 2 excursions, which was convenient. Overall, the complex was very well-maintained, the outdoor BBQs came in handy for easy cooking, it was very quiet (we were never bothered by noise) and the swimming-pool was big enough for lap swimming. It is also well-located on the island. That was our first trip to Maui and we never found the driving distances to be a pain, would it be to go to the airport, to the crater, to Hana or to the NW of the island. Kihei does not really look like a town with a well-defined city center (in that respect, Lahaina is much cuter) but it has all the conveniences you may need in terms of restaurants, bars and grocery stores. Very nice beaches not far away. Overall we would strongly recommend that complex, especially for the price they’re asking. A very good value!

Traveler's tip on dining

Cafe O’Lei (in Kihei) and Mama’s Fish House (near Paia)

Fantastic!

Everything about Maui Hill was excellent. Our condo was beautiful - spotlessly clean, had everything we needed and was tastefully furnished. The swimming pool and grounds were immaculately maintained and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this spectacular hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

There is so much to do on Maui. Go snorkeling at the many beautiful beaches and see the array of exotic fishes and magnificent sea turtles (of which the locals are very proud), go to a Luau, visit the rain forests and view the crater of the volcano.

good

I booked Maui Hill because of all the good reviews. It did not disappoint me at all. The condo is very roomy and spacy. I got tiny bit of ocean view but anyways Maui Hill is away from the beach so it won’t be much of a front row beach view. Furnitures are nice and clean. Bathrooms do need a makeover, but they are clean. I have one complaint that housekeepers don’t fix the bed and clean up the bathroom till 2:30 or 3 or even later. If we were in the condo they just left the towels on the chair and will not come back to clean up the room. So old towels will be piled up on our bathroom floors and bed unmade. They need to work on that. I will highly recommend Maui Hill to all families.

For snorkling, just rent gears from local shops and do it yourself at Ahihi Bay.

Exceeded our expectations

The Maui Hill was amazing. it had everthing one would want from the beautiful landscaping to the amazing views from our condo. This was our first visit to Hawaii and one always wonders if what they see on a website is what one gets when they arrive. Well, this was that and more. The privacy, quietness, serenity, tranquility, and laid back pace of Maui Hill was so much more enjoyable then staying at a hotel or a higher priced resort. if you do not mind walking, the three kamole beaches are within easy walking distance from the Resort as is the town of Kihei. if you know how to ride a motorcycle and hold a motorcycle license, I highly recommend renting a motorcycle. WOW, riding the upper north roads on a motorcycle was spectacular. In addition, I would also recommend purchasing a tour of the road to Hana. We found the ABC gas station store, located about a mile up on S. Kihei road had some of the best prices on souvenirs, so do not let this store, by being in a gas station, fool you into thinking shops further down the strip will have better prices. In closing, the day we rented the motorcycle, we drove by all the upscale resorts further north and further south, and we came away telling ourselves we made the right choice by choosing to stay at the Maui Hill.

Great Location

The hotel was a great location for Maui, close to the Kamole Beaches, good local restaurants (Da Kitchen), and close to the Spa Grande in a nearby five star hotel..don’t miss the pampering if you have time.

Maui’s Best Choice Hotel!

I booked our June 8th-15th, 2009 trip based on the Expedia pictures and reviews. Our expectations were exceeded! The pool, pool area and hot tub were fabulous. We stayed in a condo, but the rooms were cleaned daily like a hotel. We chose the garden view and were pleasantly surprised to see both the ocean and mountains from our lanai. Maui Hill is not right on the beach, but it doesn’t need to be. There are a number of beaches along the main drag less than a mile away. They were too far for walking. The Expedia booking agent was very helpful from activities to dining possibilities. We would definitely stay at Maui Hill in the future! Thanks for making it so enjoyable.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Most of the souvenior shops are imported goods... not from Maui or any of the Hawaiian Islands. Looks for shops like Hands of Maui or places with signs stating that real Maui artist works available. I don’t want to go to Maui and buy something imported from China! Also, the Royal Lahaina Luau, Maui Mountain Cruisers sunrise bike ride, Skyline Eco-Adventures ziplining and Blue Water Rafting Kanaio/Molokini Snorkeling adventure were EXCELLENT!

Terrific condo!

I must highly recommend this condo! The service there was top notch, the condo was clean and LOADED. We had a beautiful view of the ocean from the 2nd floor. The location was great for accessing all parts of the island. There is an expedia local expert in the office that has prices that match or beat anywhere else you can find online. There is nothing more I could have asked for. Top notch value.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Must do a biking trip down Haleakala Crater and go snorkeling. I had a giant Hawaiian sea turtle swim along underneath me within arm’s reach! Saw humpback whales breaching with dolphins. Go eat at Mama’s Fishhouse. Check out the lava flows south of Makena. There’s so much to do, need 2 weeks to even think about getting bored.

Great hotel

Very nice hotel, rooms are extremelly large and confortable with a lot of windows. We were three and had 2 bathrooms which is great when coming back from the beach. The place was spotless, including the kitchen and dishes. The quality of the sofa bed is the only point to be improved. Definitely recommand this hotel.

As good as they said it would be.

The Auston Maui Hill is a large, condo complex located on the uphill side off S. Kihei Rd. They condos are not new, but are well kept, as are the grounds. Our two bedroom condo (actually a three bedroom but the third bedroom was locked and we were charged for two only), was very clean and extremely spactious. The master bedroom was roomier than our own house! True, the bathroom and kitchen were cramped, which is puzzling as there is plenty of room in the bedrooms so why design the bathroom so small? Hm m m . Anyway, we were very comfortable there and though we didn’t have a view of the ocean, it didn’t matter. Never needed the air conditioning as the breezes blow through nicely. Birds can get noisy in the am, but what can you do? We were far enough off the road that there was NO road noise, which cannot be sais for MANY of the other Kihei condo groups. Very nice desk and service people. Don’t forget to tip the housemaids. They don’t make much and work harder than most waitresses. P. S. The beds were not too soft and I am very picky about that sort of thing. I would recommend the Maui Hill any day.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Plan to do very little. I mean do only one or two planned activities and spend the rest of the time relaxing. Take a drive, stop for a garage sale, take a nap in the cool condo. Makes the vacation feel longer.

Awesome Stay

This is the second time we stayed at the Maui Hill and we enjoyed it very much both times. The rooms are so spacious and well kept. Its like having an apartment to live in for your stay. The only down side is that its not right on the beach but you can see the beach off your lanai and its only a short walk to the beach. Its not too far to walk to a couple of restaurants and yet its set off and away from some of the busiest areas. We like it very much and will return again next time.

Great location and value

The staff at the hotel was uniformly courteous and helpful. The concierge staff was extremely helpful in making good recommendations and in obtaining reservations, including prime front row seats at a laoau on our last night in Hawaii.

Happy!

Even though we had a glitch with getting our ocean view that we reserved - the staff and manager were extremely helpful and fair in rectifying the situation. A beautful room and view, well maintained inside and out.

Excellent choice

Lovely grounds, relatively quiet, well-maintained unit with barbecue grills nearby. While it’s not directly on the water, it’s close to several beaches and a great central location for touring the Island.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The road through the Western Mountains has been improved and is worth the drive for the spectacular views and hiking along the way. The road to Hana is beautiful, but does make for a very long day.

Great hotel but rooms need renovation

Great spacious units, well maintained grounds, grills available with strategically placed lights. It would have been perfect if they would renovate the bathrooms and repaint the rooms. Also cleaning staff would burst in at 10am no matter what. lights.

Like to sleep late?

If you like to sleep late, this place is not for you. The drapes in the bedroom let in all the sunlight, we finally got smart and hung our beach towels over the drapes. Then if you pay extra for the "ocean view" you are at the back of the complex, with the golf carts!! which beep when they back up. Hope you don’t have nieghbours, the exhaust fans in thier bathrooms, will wake even the most exhausted guest. The ocean view is only if you stand up and crane your neck, miles away. If any of that don’t get you the housekeeping staff will, they start ringing bells at 8:30 am
