Bad service

I’ve stayed at the Northland Inn several times and previously had a good experience. This time, 10 minutes after got into our room, I heard someone trying to get in with a key. I opened the door and a woman said this was her room. She showed me her key which indeed was the same room. She did go back down to get another room. Why would they give my room to someone else when they just gave it to me? And what would have happened if I wasn’t in the room? They would have gotten her a key that worked, thereby making my key not work when I returned? Not to mention the fact that someone who wasn’t a hotel employee would have been in my room. Also, at 6:50 AM the next morning I awoke to knocking on my door. It was a member of the housekeeping staff. She too had the wrong room. This was a leisure trip with an event that went late the night before. We did not need to be up at 7 AM! Perhaps the staff of the Northland Inn would have liked the 4 hour car ride home with no sleep and cranky kids? When I checked out I wanted to talk to the frontdesk staff about the incidences. There were 3 guests ahead of me in line and 1 front desk person. Another employee showed up, looked at the line, said "I’m back" and disappeared into an office behind the desk. I stood there for 15 minutes with tired kids while the front desk person waited on the first guest before I just gave up. All in all, a very disappointing experience. I’m not sure I will be back.

AWESOME PLACE TO TAKE FAMILY

The Northland Inn and Conference Center is an amazing place to take your family. The offer suites of all kinds; king, queen, two doubles, and of cours a pull out in the living room. As an added bonus, our room had a jacuzzi tub! Everything was neat and clean. There is a pool, workout room, hot tub, wonderful room service and dining options and a bar. The property is beautifuland located only 15 minutes from Mall of America. I would recommend it to anyone and I will go back again next year

Mall of America 15 miles away!

All Suites and very Quiet!

I love the layout of the rooms - they are all suites. You first walk in to a sitting room with couch, table & chairs, TV and storage. The bedroom is beyond that. The layout means you’re not sleeping a few feet from where people are walking in the halls. It was extremely quiet. The staff is very courteous. Everything is well maintained. The whirlpool tub is very large - only drawback is that the shower is in the tub area and the tub walls are high so it could be an issue getting in and out for people who are short statured or have issues with mobility. We’ve stayed there twice and will certainly be back!

TERRIFIC!!!

We’ve stayed here before and will continue to go back. Although I do have to say that the food at the restaurant was of much better quality the first time we stayed. The buffet seemed to have less food on it, plus when we had the breakfast buffet the pancakes were cold! They have the air beds and I found it to be quite uncomfortable. But that could have been my fault because I may not have had it adjusted correctly. Don’t get me wrong, we will still continue to stay here. I’m guessing anyone can have an off day.

Nice place

We enjoyed out stay at Northland Inn Executive Center. It was a nice place. The suite was a little small but it was very clean. The only thing I put on the comment card was it could use a rail in the whirlpool tub because it got slippery while showering.

Sleepless in Minnesota

I have always liked staying at the Northland Inn until this most recent stay. The hotel staff are not looking at the things that make a hotel special, like repairing worn out carpet, removing black marks all over the walls, and replacing wall paper and furniture that is broken or torn. The age of the property is showing, and it’s not a good show. The security and front desk staff needs also to learn better customer service and be able to handle unruly guests in a t timely and respectful manner, without disturbing others in the hotel. The jacuzzi never works, and this is even after I have notified them numerous times. Getting out of the hotel is also a cluster when three out of four of the elevators are broken, and broken because the unruly guests were not taken care of by security and hotel staff. We came for the funeral of a deceased relative and now the memory of the Northland Inn will be for ever deceased in our memory banks!

This property is close to everything in the NW area of the Twin Cities. However, it is a bit pricy at times and if the pool and jacuzzi are not working and the elevators are on the blink, the Northland is not a good stay for families.

Extremely clean, Would recommend to Anyone, 20 minutes from everything

The hotel and staff were wonderful. The rooms were very clean. The staff very helpful. The restaurant and food very good. Try the Corn Bread Appetizer. Only complaint was that breakfast was always a buffet. It would have been nice just to be able to order ala carte. Don’t always want to eat that much.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Mill City Museum and Fort Snelling were just quick mentions in the guide but very fun and well worth the visit.

Very nice hotel, elevator in disrepair!

The hotel was very nice, and comfy! The food was awesome and even a good price. We stayed 5 nights and one of the four hotel elevators was out of service the whole time. We were also there during a big soccer tournament and there were a lot of teams staying there. This was especially bad for elevator use as there always seemed to be a big line at the elevators. Also had trouble getting the maids to take the garbage out daily, surprising! I think I would give this hotel another chance, but they would really have to improve in these areas for me to continue using them each time I go to the Twin Cities.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

This hotel is just off I94 when you get inside the western part of the city. Close to the Sports Center in Blaine, several parks along the Mississippi River, lots of golfing, and of course the arenas for pro games.

mixed

The hotel service was very good, friendly and very helpful. The value was good, although the hotel was beginning to look dated. The one big complaint was the lighting in the room, there were no overhead lights ~ just a few dim lamps. It was so dark we couldn’t even read!

Northland Inn-Not for Executives any more

I used to book conferences/meetings/rooms weekly at the Northland Inn and it was a beautiful, immaculate environment. It could use some updating and general maintenance. Our sink stopper was not repaired on the first request, but it was tended to upon the second request. The towels were tattered and the elevators bump a lot and it’s usually quite a wait for them. We weren’t informed the cable tv was out the entire stay, just that it wasn’t working upon check-in. The second day, I was informed it would not be available during our stay and when I informed the woman at the desk Sunday morning that I would have appreciated honesty about the tv upon check in, she was rather rude.

My new place to stay whenever I’m in the Twin Cities...

The Northland Inn is most definitely a place I would recommend to everyone I know. It was like staying at an enormous country home. The lobby offered large, plush furniture groupings to relax in, a game room the likes of which you’d find in an English manor and a lovely pool. There’s a bar in the lobby and their restaurant - America’s Harvest - offers some of the finest food I’ve had the chance to indulge in. There’s a Seafood buffet on Friday, a Prime Rib buffet on Saturday, and on Sunday a choice of breakfast or brunch buffet. We opted for breakfast, what a good choice!! Be sure to have the corn bread on one of the dinner buffets, or order it off of the menu. It’s scrumptious and only $3.25 for an entire "cake" which serves 8. The "fire roasted wings" are a bite of heaven! The suite was lovely. Internet service was $9.95. Oh, and don’t let me forget to mention the GIANT jacuzzi tub. I did mention to staff that the jacuzzi jets needed cleaning. After our jacuzzis the tub was full of grime; we’re not that dirty. There weren’t any handicapped rails in the tub & the shower curtain was grimey. They said they would attend to it - I hope they really did. Lights could have been brighter for reading and they were nearly impossible to turn on. Other than that - A+++

Traveler's tip on dining

If you don’t mind a little drive, be sure to eat at the Machine Shed in Woodbury. They have caramel and cinnamon rolls the size of your head and they’re phenomonal! When you first come in there’s a little "country" store with all kinds of treasures. The food in the restaurant is real "home cookin’". And if you’re with a group - or if you just love sweets, be sure to order the 10-layer cake - to die for. Or any one of their pies will be a winning choice, too!

Very nice hotel, but wireless and cable TV are extras

Would have rated this hotel a 5, but as with many relatively expensive hotels, wireless internet was available at an extra charge, and so was any TV other than local channels. Cable and free internet are customary at most moderate to low price hotels. It bothers me that higher end places seem to want to gouge you at every turn. Aside from that, as far as accomodations, atmosphere, etc., this was a very nice hotel.

Spacious and Comfortable

The rooms are all suites. All the rooms - sitting area, bedroom, and bathroom were quite spacious and comfortable. The sitting room was the room off the hallway. The bedroom was behind that which added more sound protection. During my stay the hotel was very quite. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The whirlpool tubs are oversized.

Traveler's tip

All the tubs except handicap rooms are very large whirlpool tubs. The shower is in the tub which has walls that are quite high. This could be dangerous or difficult for people of shorter stature or those with problems lifting their leg that high to get over the tub wall to shower. Rubber bath mats are provided which was very helpful.

GREAT HOTEL STAY

Friendly and courteous staff. Rooms were clean and spacious. We were disappointed that the hot tub was closed. Also, the beds are not particularly soft. Other than that, a great hotel and a great stay.

It was ok

The staff appeared unprepared for visitors. They were not proactive and did not provide proper cleaning during our stay. There was a game room but it was booked for private parties which did not allow general customers use.

A Great Hotel For Families

A great hotel for families with the pool, game room and lots of space to move around.

Real close to downtown Minneapolis and close to shopping and major attractions.

Great Value

Great price for the size of the room. The HUGE jet bathtub was awesome! Small pool, and the jets on the hot tub were broken. Overall, I would recommend it to travelers as a great value for the room you get.
