Unbelievable Experience!!

My wife and I stayed at the Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club and couldn’t have been more satisfied. Our pool-view room was fantastic and even afforded a nice view of the bay as well. The room was large, with a flat-screen TV and a wonderful bathroom. The restaurants on site were great as well, especially Duke’s. If you go there, be sure to ask for Henry, he was a fabulous waiter. The view at the hotel is to die for......with the bay opening out to the ocean and surrounded by picturesque mountains. The pool is enormous and never gets crowded. The only issue was the construction, but it wasn’t overbearing and many times we weren’t aware of it at all. One of the great things about the hotel, though, is it’s location. Just a couple minutes from the airport and being on the east shore, it is nearly equidistant from both the North and South shores (be sure to spend the bulk of your time on the North Shore.......it is much more beautiful there!!). We can’t say enough about the staff either........from the front desk personnel to the cleaning staff, everyone was extremely gracious and kind. We were constantly greeted wherever we went within the hotel and they always had a smile on their faces. This was easily the most fantastic vacation we’ve ever had and would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Pick up the Ultimate Guide to Kauai book and find out how to get to all of the secluded beaches on the North Shore. You will NOT be disappointed. They are the most beautiful, scenic places on earth and the great thing about them is that, often, you will be the only people there. Just be prepared for a few minutes (never more than 15) of uphill and downhill hiking to get to them. It is definitely well worth it!

A great place to relax in luxury

Love this resort Food is good, people are friendly, service is fair and the Jacuzzis (5), yes five, are great. Probably the finest and largest pool we have ever experienced. Our second stay and all the rooms have been upgraded and have great beds, bathrooms, large screen TV and patios. The grounds are just beautiful and the beach and ocean are right there for us to enjoy. One of the best resorts we have encountered having traveled extensively all over the world and it’s a good value also. Highly recommend ! Oh, and don’t forget the great golf courses right on the property....

Great Hotel and Great Location

We stayed at this hotel with our 3 young children and we all loved it...Everything was great...the beach, pool, restaurants, staff ect...The only thing that was a little annoying was the construction going on but we didnt let that get in our way of having a good time...its great for families and we saw a ton of honeymooner...I have stayed many places on the island and this is my new favorite!

We have stayed here in the past and been very happy, but this time were disappointed with the hotel staff service and the cleanliness of the property.

VERY POOR SERVICE and ROOM WAS AWFUL!

Had a guarantee for a certain room as I was taking my Mom to Hawaii for her first time...and she is ailing so I wanted all arrangements to be set. Got to hotel and they were overbooked so we were put in a room with a Murphy bed and she had to walk very far no one was around to assist us. It was very disappointing.

Amazing resort

We had such a great honeymoon stay. Our room was very clean, was well taken care of each day, and newly renovated. The restaurants were expensive but convinient and great, the staff were all very friendly, and the overall location was perfect. The resort is really gorgeous, yet affordable. We could see the ocean from our room, even though it was a "pool view" room. The pool is amazing, with 5 hot tubs off of it. I would definitely reccommed this place to anyone! There was a little bit of construction. The area around the pool was being tiled when we were there, but the workers were working quickly and it’ll be worth it; it looked nice.

Mostly impressed

We loved most of it but we didn’t expect the price of the food/restaurants on the actual resort to be so expensive when the food wasn’t really even that great. The view was amazing it was so pretty. The pool was really cool and warm. It’s right next to the ocean, super easy access to it. There was this cool koi fish pond and some other wildlife just right there in the middle of the resort, its pretty neat. There are roosters everywhere which can be annoying, but I personally thought they were so cute and added to the uniqueness of Hawaii and this resort.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

WEAR SUNSCREEN IF YOU BURN. The worst thing you want to do is go out into the ocean your first day and not wear sunscreen. The rest of your week will be very difficult for you and anyone else you’re with... if you burn like we did. We still had fun but... it would have been a lot more fun and relaxing if we had just put some stinking sun block on!

Can’t wait to go back

I have to say that is this a first class hotel a real Gem. The staff very friendly beautiful grounds well kept and very clean. I have been telling everyone back home if they get a chance to go to Kauai, they need to stay at the Marriott Beach Club in Lihue.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

If your looking for nightlife, it’s not on this island.

Very beautiful and comfortable

This hotel has beautiful grounds and an amazing pool area. We unfortunately were there during their renovation and so there was jackhammering at the pool area for two of the six days we were there and one of the restaurants was closed. They did upgrade us to a pool view room that was newly renovated and it was very comfortable. We had a great view of the pool and the ocean. The staff were very nice and accomodating. I would like to return to see it after their renovation is completed.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

The location of this hotel is great for traveling north or south to explore the many beaches available on Kauai. The farthest beach was an hour north and we got to Poipu Beach in about 20 minutes. We went on Captain Andy’s Sunset Cruise along the Napali Coast and it was beautiful. We would recomment it highly.

Would love to go back!

My husband and I went to the Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club for our honeymoon. We stayed in a garden view room and the view was beautiful. We could see not only the gardens of the resort, but also the beach and mountains surrounding the resort. The grounds were beautifully kept. They were renovating the pool area when we were there, but it was not really a problem (they worked in the morning and stayed out of the way of the resort guests). The room was nice and the bed was really comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay here and would love to return. We both felt that we made the perfect choice in deciding on the Kauai Marriott. Also, there were several good restaurants in walking distance. We ate at Dukes 3 times during our stay and found the food to be good each time. Overall, this is a great place to stay on Kauai!

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

We really enjoyed the Outfitters ziplining tour. It was much better than some of the others that just zipline in an open field. Also, I would definitely recommend taking the Blue Dolphin Na Pali coast tour (unless you are prone to sea sickness). The crew with the Blue Dolphin were wonderful and the luau-style dinner that they provide was excellent.

Rennovations - too much noise

We arrived on a Sunday and the hotel was peaceful. Woke up Monday early and laid on the beach until 9am, at which time construction started. Jack hammers, drilling and smashing all over the place. Went back to our room and they were rennovating upstairs. Our room was vibrating and the noise was awfull. Luckily we were staying only one night. I felt bad for the guests that were there all week. Doesn’t look like the project will be done anytime soon.

Traveler's tip on dining

We did love Dukes restauraunt and went back a few times. The food was very good and reasonable. I don’t think we ever paid more than $60 w/ drinks at any of the Kauai restauraunts. Kauai Pasta is fresh pasta and a great price. If you take Rice Street to the left out of the resort and go for a few miles up the hill there is a mall and a bakery in the back next to the grocery store. Costco is in location as well.

Very Disappointed

My family and I were really looking forward to our stay here. Unfortunately, the room we were given had not been cleaned properly. We were given a second room very quickly. However, this was an adjoining room. The other room had several unsupervised children who were extremely noisy. We did not get a lot of sleep in spite of requests to keep the noise down and calls to hotel security. The hotel refused to remedy this even though we offered to pay for a room upgrade. Overall, we were not happy with the service and given problems that I have had with Marriott in the past I will not be returning to a Marriott any time soon.

Kauai Marriott

To be fair, this hotel was undergoing a lot of repairs and maintenance. But, the rooms were not updated, the hotel was noisy, kids were unsupervised in the pool area (spitting, jumping in) and the noise was ridiculous considering you were in a place that was supposed to be so relaxing. We had to stay one night and then we left.

Traveler's tip

Before you book here (the beach and pools seemed nice) make sure renovations are complete. Also, off season may mean less kids.

The pool area is great. The hotel is mainly catered for couples/families. The spa is good, but expensive. The garden rooms are ok.

Not bad, but needs some upgrades

This was our 2nd time staying at the Kauai Marriott, and unfortunately, just like the island itself, it isn’t quite as good as it used to be. The hotel grounds are still very attractive and overall it is certainly an adequate place to stay, but the building and the rooms are in need of a renovation. A few coats of paint and some spackle here and there wouldn’t hurt. We noticed several cracks on the wall and paint was peeling from the bathroom door. The balcony is also starting to look very weathered and dated. And even though we didn’t go to Kauai to watch TV, it would be nice if they’d replace that antique sitting in the entertainment unit with something that doesn’t look like it came straight out of the 70’s. Certainly not the worst place we’ve ever stayed but on the flip side not the best either. Oh, and one more thing... if you like sushi- avoid the bar above the pool area at all costs. It’s subpar, to say the least.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Do yourself a favor- if you’re going to eat breakfast everyday at the hotel’s "Kukui" restaurant you’re better off getting a couple of side orders rather than one of their overpriced omelets. May also want to make a few trips to the local ABC store to stock up on water and snacks.

On the expensive side but GREAT hotel and GREAT location!!

We loved our trip to Kauai and the Marriott put us right in the middle of the island so it was easy to take seperate day trips to the north and south shores. absolutely amazing. The grounds at the marriott are breathtaking and the beach is great for an easy day of relaxing although there is so much to do on kauai I say get out and play.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Stock up on groceries at the local walmart. Hotel food is ridiculously expensive and only average quality. Also Kauai pasta is delicious as is Fish express. Highly recommend

Kauai’s best hotel!

This was our first real vacation in quite a while, and we felt very pampered. All we wanted was some R&R, and this was the perfect spot for just that. The bonus was being able to watch the various cruise ships come and go!
