Never get to stay long enough

The seclusion, natural surroundings, accommodating staff, and privacy attract me back again and again. If something goes wrong, or is not in the best repair, a phone call means someone will be there in minutes. I have had to have things overnight expressed, and the desk staff has delivered the packages to me as soon as they have arrived. Will come back as often as I can.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

This is a place to ’stay’ in and enjoy the city and the scenery. A perfect stress-reliever to have a book, sketch, watch the wildlife and the skies. The golf is challenging, especially to the novice, but riding the course in the cart makes up for the lost golf balls-especially if the bobcats are out and about. The city is close, but you have a haven and hideaway if you want it. I live in a resort area full-time and cannot "get away" the way I am able to here.

Pleasant surprise

We were pleasantly surprised by the setting of this hotel. At night we could see all the lights of Tucson, it was really pretty. The resort up the hill had fireworks one night which was great!

would stay here agian , if in tucson

Our over all stay was great this would be our 3 time with starr pass golf villas. the only request I would have is that they should make the golf carts avaliable to the hotel guest. like possibly assighning a golf cart to each casita. some of thease casitas area distance from the club house.

Decent hotel in the area

The hotel is sitting just in the middle of the Starr Pass Golf area. The landscape is quite fascinating, the entire area is beautiful and somewhat relaxing. I selected this hotel because of the apparently convenient price/value ratio, and I can confirm now that this is what you should look for if you are travelling in the area and you have a limited budget. Rooms are OK, well within the average of a typical medium range hotel. Perhaps they are not too clean, but it is hard to do better in the middle of the desert.

clean, quiet, the basics

Room size and cleanliness were fine. Parking near the room can be difficult to find late at night. Pool and amenities are a bit small, but usable. Room was clean, had coffee maker, mini fridge, microwave, and full set of dishes. They do not provide daily housekeeping service, so don’t expect it. You can call for fresh towels/sheets/toiletries if you need them.

Great Retreat

The front desk staff were amazing! It was refreshing to receive excellent service. The grounds were beautiful, we took advantage of the shuttle service to the JW, they have an excellent Sunday brunch and an amazing terrace for evening cocktails. overall an excellent value

Dark and Dingy

This was not what I expected. No lobby to go to like a regular hotel. Lighting was terrible outside of the rooms. Loud neighbors. I checked out immediately the next morning.

Do not stay at this place with a family.

I’ll be back

Want frills? Stay at the main resort hotel. Golf Suites are perfect for, well, golf. Room lighting, however, is bad.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Perfect setup for golf vacation. Rooms are very close to club house.

There was no heat; after trying to fix unsuccessfully, we were upgraded.

There was litter around the area. Our room was nice but had no heat. Several attempts were made to fix the problem, but were unsuccessful. Finally we were given another room, which was an upgrade.

Terrific option for families

The one bedroom casita is a nice size and has all the amenities a family needs. We were very comfortable, enjoyed having a full kitchen, and loved our view. The room was much nicer than it appeared in the pictures. Location was great for access to Gate’s Pass and the Arizona-SOnora Desert Museum. The only negative was that it was difficult to walk to the pool (hilly and no sidewalks) and there was no baby pool or splash pad for kids.

You could easily spend the day at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum. Be sure to bring sunscreen and bug repellant.

Not impressed

I reserved 2 queen beds but got a king. They changed the room and then the keys didn’t work. It’s quite a distance to the desk from the rooms. The worse part was...no hot water. Just don’t like cold showers! Won’t be going back any time soon.

Great Stay for the Price!

Once we got settled in the hotel was wonderful. The place was hard to find; landscape signs and directions were very hard to follow. Took us about 30 minutes to find the suites. The hotel lobby looked like it was a storage place, a sign or better lighting would have helped. When we finally found the lobby and checked in, the directions the clerk gave was even harder to find. We almost had to go door-to-door to find the suite. Once we got into the suite, the furniture was all stacked up in the kitchenette. I wondered if the hotel was going through a major renovation or was in the process of being sold. After I called the lobby, they sent a person to place the furniture in the proper places. After settling in and opening the screen door for fresh air, a huge spider came through the sliding door. The excitement of finding the hotel, getting the furniture on the floor, and getting rid of the spider, we were too tired to fight with anyone. We decided on staying at the hotel. It was very nice. However, the hotel staff was nice they did not offer to make any amends on our unmet expectations.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Ask for and receive clear and explicit directions for the location of the hotel. Make sure the room is clean and properly set for guests.

Starr Pass Studio...Good enough.

We stayed at Starr Pass in a studio room. It had a view of a couple golf holes and the mountains. From reading other reviews before I booked, I was prepared for a small room with basic furniture and ammenties..which is what we got. All in all it was not bad. The room was clean and the beds were the tempurpedic mattress which is a little odd if you have’nt slept on them before. The staff was accomodating and polite. The area it is located in is very quiet. We enjoyed taking a trip into town for dinner and dancing.

Traveler's tip on dining

El Charo on Court St on the weekends is a very fun place to go...and they have great mexican food!

Pretty location, but hotel room just ok

Everyone at the hotel was helpful and pleasant. Hotel had a nice pool; grounds and scenery were beautiful. However, beds and pillows were uncomfortable. Bedspreads need updating - seemed faded and old. Studio room was small.

Comfort in the country!

A very attractive and comfortable golf resort, but, its location was remote enough to make trips for dining shopping an inconvenience. Awakening to bird calls and crowing roosters was a delight!
