Good location just off Riverwalk
This hotel is well located just off the Riverwalk, making it ideal for those who want to enjoy the atmosphere without the noise and congestion one could experience when staying in a hotel located directly on the riverwalk. The iconic building shows signs of renovation, as evident in the size and layout of rooms/closets and food and parking can be costly, though they do offer a less expensive self-park option thaan other local hotels. Overall a comfortable and accomodating place to stay.

2nd 100 years
Hotel is celebrating 100 years this year, and it shows. Rooms were clean and spacious, but decor is dated, Service was excellent, and dining good though somewhat pricey. Proximity to attractions are a plus, however, $$ + tax per day for self parking, and $$$ +tax for valet parking was a shock, and detracted from the overall positive aspects of location and service. Other parking options offered at the hotel was street parking and mneter feeding. There are, however, parking lots available several blocks from the hotel if weather is fair.

vintage hotel
Very cool hotel, I loved the antique feel. There was some house keeping problems as there was no soap when we got there but when we called the front desk they were there very fast to give us some more. The next day there was a simmular issue with shampoo. but other than some house keeping problems probably beyond the hotels control I have recomended this hotel to others. The bed was so comfortable I would go buy one today if I knew what kind it was. It was very close to the river walk only 1 1/2 blocks. and near some of the better bars on the river walk. behind it is a great place for breakfast and has a neat rustic atmosphere. I will defently look forward to staying here in the future. It also looks out over a park which was nice.
Dirty Nellys is a great adult piano bar if you like Irish bars.

a really nice stay
I stayed this hotel on a business trip to avoid the fast-paced hotel that my conference was in and I found the St. Anthony to be a delightful refuge at the end of the day. The rooftop pool was clean and private and the gym was high quality. My room was classic and quaint and the staff were consistently pleasant and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure trips to San Antonio.

nice historic hotel
I found the St. Anthony to be a very nice historic hotel. The Lobby is just stunning. The staff was nice and helpful. The location is perfect for walking to the Alamo, and the Riverwalk areas. Much has been written about the rooms. I found that the rooms are just what I expected from a 100 year old, well maintained hotel. The furniture is solid hardwod antique, in excellent preserved condition. The bathroom in my room has vintage tile with a separate stall. Its not new, but it is clean and in very good vintage condition. The room is about average size for a hotel and had a really nice 4 poster bed. My room was the single queen unit, I think their least expensive room type. I stayed on the Travis Park side and recommend you ask for a Travis Park view. The cost is the same but the view is much better than a typical "city" view. The staff will put you where you prefer but you need to ask. They actually let me switch rooms after my first night, just for a better view; That was really nice. Please remember that this is not a new modern hotel. It has the class and feel of the plush vintage hotel that it is. If you want a microwave, a frige, or huge formica counters, then this is not the place for you. If you like the look and feel of days gone by, or are up for an adventure then the St. Anthony makes a wonderful place to stay. Id stay at the St. Anthony again, and wholeheartedly recommend it.

Don Ellis
Beautiful old hotel, very accommodating staff, the only detractor is its next to a park that is frequented by a few homeless people during the day but cleared out in the evening. We walked all over in the day and evening without any problems and were never approached by panhandlers. We would defiantly us this hotel again.

St. Anthony- a grand old lady
This hotel was obviously older and had a very few condition problems, but overall, the room was very clean and the service was excellent. Therooms were a bit small, but for a weekend getaway, it cant be beat!

A true example of the luxery and experience of the past laced with a human touch.
The Lobby and meeting room areas are sumptuous. The service friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and well kept. The location is minutes from the Riverwalk and Alamo.
Traveler's tip
If you are uncomfortable with the homeless, you may have an issue with the surrounding area, though it is dispersed throughout the downtown area and not just limited to the area near the St.Anthony.

Cant wait to return
We stayed at the St Anthony while visiting my daughter during graduation week at Lackland Air Force base. The Hotel was very nice although extremely old, which i really liked. Everyone on the staff was helpful n friendly especially the concierge & parking lot attendants.I think my favorite part of the hotel was the bathrooms with all the old tile work.We only ate in the hotel restaraunt once but it was great. We also used the pool and the fitness room often. My only complaints are about all the homeless people across the street in the park, and parking lot prices. There is only parking on the street with meters. So you had to use parking lots for overnight parking & theirs was too expensive but i used it anyway for the convenience of its location, diagonally across the street from the hotel. One great thing about the hotel location is that there is a Walgreens right at the corner where you can stock up on drinks and snacks.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The hotel is located right in downtown San Antonio by the Riverwalk. Every eve when we returned from the Air force base my daughter & i walked through the town, by the river, and through the mall. There was always something new to see.

good only as a historical hotel, a novalty
the main floor was real nice. The rooms upstairs was so so.The staff was friendly and polite,The charge for parking was crazy,27 dollars a night. We parked there the first night and then moved our car to a parking garage one block from the hotel for 7.50 a 24 hr a day..The parking fee at the hotel left us a bad taste in our mouth for the hotel.
only stay in this hotel as a novely due to its age and history. We stayed there because it was our 59 anniversary and we had met in park accrose the street.Visited sites in town as when we were tenagers.

Traveler's tip
it rained most of the time so the river boats did not run and from the hotel to the river walk there were homeless people every where almost stepping on them

Not impressed
The room was very small. The bathroom was even smaller, there was no counter space on the sink area to place my toiletries, makeup and hairdryer. The vanity was so high up on the wall that I wasnt able to use it to apply my makeup or dry my hair! The second day we only received one towel for two people! The room was not clean. I will not be staying there again!

Beautiful hotel on the surface
Very nice, historical hotel. Close proximity to all attractions. Beware of hidden fees. Parking is a premium, cost is outrageous. Ride the bus! I enjoyed the visit, but will look for other accomodations if I ever return to this lovely city.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The festive market spirit on the Alamo square was great. local talent, the food, the "gunfight", it was great. Happens the last Saturday of each month. This was worth the trip! The riverwalk is beautiful. Take a ride on the boat!

Excellent service
The hotel staff was incredible friendly and professional. The only complaint I would have with the hotel is the location to the park, which is home to many homeless. I would have been scared to go out walking after dark.

Comfortable and close with good service
Hotel staff responded to our requests without complaint and within a short amount of time. The rooms were not large but if you like antiques and being close to the riverwalk, its a great location. Additional charge for parking whether you use valet or self park lot.

Would Stay Again
I spent 3 nights @ this hotel and would love to stay there again. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable of the area. there was a wedding going on the same weekend and they cared to ask if I found myself and my husband disturbed by any noise on our floor. Our room was cleaned and made up every day... the only thing was they only gave us 1 new towel the second day instead of 2. Otherwise, great stay! The restaurant in the hotel had yummy food. Very close to the Riverwalk and just a quick jump to the highway. Would stay again!
Traveler's tip on dining
I highly recommend the Iron Cactus on the riverwalk for great Authentic Mexican and early happy hour!!

Just a Nice Lobby
The only nice in the hotel was the lobby and bar recently remodeled, but the guest rooms and bathrooms were extremely small and very very old and dirty, i mean it. The bed squicked, the rug smell bad, and the worst of all was the bathroom everything was rusted and stained. The parking was too expensive, eventhough it was outside the hotel. The room service had an extra charge beside the 20% forced TIP.
Traveler's tip
This hotel its not worth it even if the price is Low.

Wonderful staff...
The staff at this hotel are efficient and polite...especially in the restaurant. The hotel is a 100 year old building that has been beautifully preserved and restored. The lobby and bar area is a wonderful place to relax with a beverage. I feel it is a quality hotel with charm, exceptional staff, and a great location. For the money...it is worth your consideration.

Nice, Historic hotel in SA
We stayed a single night here while attending a wedding. The hotel was convenient because the church and reception were all within a 3 block radius. The 1 night price was night as we booked it last minute, so we got a better deal. The hotel is nice if you are okay with older properties with historical significance. The hotel has a charming character and can be very romantic. The rooms are a little on the small side, so if you are staying for more than a few days, it may be better to get a larger room or a different hotel all together.
There is a Walgreens around the corner, so you can easily get any items you may have left at home.
