Awesome Stay
Each conceirge was nice and informative but Robert was my favorite. The entire staff was very helpful and pleasant. We had a Bay View. It was just spectacular. Rooms were clean and appeared new. We loved the decor. It was nice being next to Gas Lamp Qtr to walk easily around the downtown area and back to the hotel. Also, the Trolley stopped right behind the hotel and the Bus line was near as well. I highly recommend.
We went in the middle of October . Sunny everyday around 74 degrees.

Nice hotel but horrible service
Well, good and bad. Nice room, great location, beautiful rooftop pool...Now for the things I didnt like...very poor service. If you sign up for their "select service" you get free wireless internet and a beverage service every morning (i.e. your choice of coffee, tea, juices, etc.) We relied on this the second day as our wake-up call. Do not do this!! I woke up 30 min AFTER they were supposed to be there and they had to been (the paper was but no beverages). We called to see where they were and were told "theyre on the way", 30 min later and a second phone call, they showed up missing the muffin that we had ordered for an additional charge. Another time when I ordered room service, I ordered the breakfast sandwich on a bagel and it came on an english muffin. We went to swim in the nice heated pool that is open until 10pm and there were dirty towels everywhere along with food that had not been cleared away and clearly been sitting there for hours (Yuck!). There was a convention in town and the hotel did seem quite busy but I would expect a hotel thats next to the convention center to plan for events. The movie selection in the room was good. The bedroom does have a weird sliding bathroom door that does not provide complete privacy but I didnt mind too much since I was staying with a close friend but if youre staying here with an acquaintance, it could be a little uncomfortable.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
If you plan to go to the Midway Museum then get there an hour before closing otherwise you will not be allowed in.

Expensive ended up being just better than average
This was an expensive 2 nights considering that the hotel was just better than average for the price. Location is very good though. The heat didnt work in our room even though it was hot outside during the day, the evening found us wanting to take the chill off the room with a little heat...no such luck. We moved from our original room because the walls are paper thin and we could hear every word from the group next door. The room we ended up with was satisfactory. The pool/hot tub are not very luxurious...small and crowded.

Very Positive Experience
This would be an ideal hotel for business travel, a ballgame weekend or without kids. The staff was outstanding without exception. Location was great and views were amazing. If you are looking for quality and location, this is the right spot. A little different if youve got kids. There was no vending, no game room, no shuttle service and the dining was geared (and priced) more towards adults. Not really suited to longer family vacations, but thats not what they are trying to be. We were provided a complimentary fridge upon request to stock up on supplies. I loved the hotel though, and the proximity to Petco Park was great. Definitely stay here for a short ballpark stay, business travel, or couples vacation.
Cab Drivers around there are totally shady. Pay attention to their routes so they dont overcharge, and let them know you;re doing it up front. If staying a while, ask for a fridge and stock up on supplies.

Totally Impressed
Accomodations were excellent. The hotel staff was very cordial, and the concierge was most helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting San Diego.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
If you plan on taking in a baseball game while in San Diego, the Omni is the place to stay. There is a skywalk that connects the hotel to the ballpark.

Downgrade room without notice
I booked and paid for a Premier Room category, but the hotel assigned me a Deluxe Room (which is a category below) without noticing at check-in. I had to go down to the front desk and request for what I paid for, but the receptionist still argued with me. Were they trying to cheat me?

Not cheap, but good
I have no complaints about the San Diego Omni except that they do not provide transportation to or from the airport. Supershuttle ($8 in 2009) works fine, as would a cab for $20. The concierge and the staff at the hotel were very helpful. The restaurant was OK.

Great place to stay
A friend and I caught a weekend series at Petco Park and were extremely glad to have picked the Omni as our hotel. Close proximity to restaurants and night life, not to mention a dedicated foot bridge on the fourth floor connecting to the park (we bought the tickets online and only had to swipe a credit card at the entrance - no will call to deal with) are just a couple of reason to stay here. For baseball fans there is a nice collection of memorabilia on display as you make your way to the pool. The rooms and common areas are very nice and tastefully decorated and the rooftop pool is amazing though a bit crowded. We did not eat at the hotel because there was an abundance of great restaurants within walking distance. All in all it was a great stay and I would definitely return for my next visit.

Great spot for family vacation in San Diego
Beautiful facility; great staff. Concierge was exceptional in giving guidance to nearby beaches, restaurants.
Traveler's tip on dining
Skip trying to get ice cream at the Ghiradelli chocolate store and get the gelato a few doors down - fabulous gelato and the store is much less crowded.

Awesome location! Walk to almost everything.
We decided to stay at the Omni because our family vacation included going to a baseball game. We got so much more out of our stay. The skywalk to Petco Park is very convenient. You are a block away from the Gaslamp Quarter entrance, and across the street from the San Diego Convention Center. There are dozens of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Everything else is a short drive, Coronado beech, San Diego Zoo, Midway Museum, airport, Sea World. We had our GPS with us which made it easy to get around. The Hotel was very clean and the staff was helpful and very courteous. The pool area was relaxing and clean, a nice place to hang out. The rooms are good sized. Rooms are cleaned daily and turn down service is free. Room service prices are a bit high, but not unexpected for a quality hotel. Valet parking is $30/day with in/out service. I wasnt sure if I wanted this. It is very handy and they are very prompt with your car. In the end it was worth it. You will notice some noise with a ballgame and some of the trains, but it is very minimal. If you are driving about on the day of a Padres game, be back to the hotel at least 1 1/2 hours before a ballgame. The traffic gets bad, and they start closing some of the streets down. The weekends are buzzing with activity and a lot of fun. We have two girls ages 11 and 4. They both had a blast and never felt out of place. Whether it is for business or leisure, I highly recommend this hotel.

Not recommended.....
The room we got was clean, nice, and spacious. However, it was really noisy at night. We were not sure where the noise came from, but it seemed very likely from their pool located one floor below our room. Another disappointed thing was that the counter lady didnt even ask us how we felt about our stay when we checked out, otherwise, I would have told her our comments!

Good Hotel
The hotel is very nice...clean, modern, great location. Staff was great, very friendly. Only two things to really complain about: one was the bathroom, which is not exactly sealed off from the room...they they have two windows basically with wood blinds over them, so their is kind of a privacy issue if you are not staying alone, also the valet parking is kind of expensive with no other options really for the guests, you pretty much have to use it. Other than those the hotel is very nice and my stay was enjoyable.

Great hotel close to the Convention Center
My husband and I stayed at the Omni for one week. The location was great for him to attend meetings at the Convention Center. I spent many hours at Omnis 6th floor pool. This hotel is also within an easy walk of all the restuarants and stores in Gas Lamp. When we first checked in we were told wed have a great water view. Very disappointed to reach our room and look out over the parking garage. The desk staff was very apologetic, but had no water view room to move us to. I would suggest anyone planning on a visit to sign up for Omnis Select Guest program on their site. We were given free Wi-Fi, turndown service, and drinks every morning. Overall, the stay was great, and wed go back! Our parking garage view redeemed itself on our last night when we had a great view of PetCos firework display. I highly recommended using the concierge. Katherine made reservations for us at Peohes on Coronado....we were pleasantly surprised to be greated with "VIP" status and have a personalized menu and a table with flowers waiting for us!
Traveler's tip on local attractions
I highly recommended going to the Maritime Museum and taking a sailing tour on the Californian. The price was great, and the ships crew was friendly and knowledgable about San Diego history.

Downtown San Diego Premier Hotel
Hotel was immaculate. Service was great. I live in San Diego, had tickets to 2 Padres games and decided to have a weekend vacation in my own town with family. It was a great vacation!!

Nice relaxing environment
This is a very nice location next to the Gas Lamp District and there are plenty of great places to eat and have fun within walking distance. We stayed here partially because I wanted to see a San Diego Padres game. The cat-walk connecting the hotel to Petco Park made it really easy to avoid much of the rush. One thing to consider if youre not attending a baseball game is planning your day around the actual game time. If the Padres are playing out of town then theres no problem but home games will create quite a traffic jam. If you are driving to and from the hotel then you need to consider when the game starts and ends. Im normally not a big fan of valet parking but this was the first time I enjoyed someone getting my car for me. The staff was extremely friendly and respectful to both my wife and son. The most enjoyable part of the hotel was the pool/patio area. A partition separated the pool from a more relaxing and quieter patio with a gas fireplace as a centerpiece. Its a great place to unwind, read a book or just listen to music. We will definitely stay here again and most-likely take in another ball game.

Excellent choice
Great location; close to everything (convention center across the street; PETCO park connected. We were able to hear the roar of the crowd during and after baseball games over the Memorial Day weekend but it was not obtrusive in any way. The view from the room was not great; I was overlooking the pool area but could only see it if I was standing in the window and looking down. That was the only negative. The conceire (spelling) services were utilized 3-4 times and were exceptional. Limited hotel dining but the hotel is located within walking distance of anything you may want (food, entertainment, the bay, excursions, etc). Would definitely do it again. Room service timely. Newer, modern facility..highly recommend.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
With careful planning you can see a lot; within seven days did a harbor dinner cruise; spent a day at the zoo; enjoyed Seaport Village; dined out with live jazz; shopped the mall and still had time for a daytime conference and visited with old friends living in San Diego.

The Cable in my room went out one night for a brief amount of time and they brought me complimentary fruit and water to my room the next day. A great place to stay to experience downtown San Diego.

Great San Diego experience
Our weekend trip to San Diego couldnt have been nicer! We had tickets to the Cubs vs Padres game and decided to take the train down to San Diego and stay the night. The Omni was a splurge, but what a great way to experience San Diego: great hotel, fun pool for the kids, a quick walk over the bridge to the ball park and a nightcap at the bar off the lobby. Totally recommend this hotel.

Great Location!
My husband and I recently stayed at the Omni for 4 nights. It was our first time in Cali. The staff was great at giving us reccs for things to do and where to eat. They even went as far as to call restaurants ahead of time and made sure we got a good table at prime time with a 10 minute notice. We didnt rent a car, most things were within walking distance (the Gaslamp is awesome) but whenever we needed a ride, there was always a taxi waiting. Everyone was extremly friendly. There was a small hiccup the first night as soon as we arrived, but if I hadnt been jet lagged it probably wouldnt have annoyed me so much, but the staff did a good job of making up for it. The only complaint is that since the Omni is next to the convention center, during the week a lot of those people stay at the Omni and also hold luncheons there as well. It was a bit crowded with all of those people just standing around, and a little awkward to be out at the pool with 100 people sitting out there having a business lunch.
Traveler's tip on dining
Rockin Baja on 5th St. has happy hour until midnight. Donovans is the place to go for a great steak and seafood. Skip the Hard Rock cafe, it was really lame. McCormick and Scmicks in the Hotel could use improvement.
