We booked this hotel for one night and paid for it on hotels.com. When we checked in, they swiped our credit card for "incidentals". At about 10p the night we checked in, we heard someone trying to open our door, luckily we had the security latch engaged. My husband got up and looked out the peep hole and saw it was the front desk employee who checked us in. He asked through the door what she was doing and she said "oh sorry, I didn't know this room was occupied". This raises a couple of questions:
Wouldn't the hotel's reservation system show the room as occupied if the employee looked at it?
Why would an employee need to get into an "unoccupied" room at 10pm in the first place?
Did she know it was occupied but was up to no good and we caught her?
We checked out at 7a the following morning. Then a day after we checked out, when we were already in another state, I saw a charge on our credit card from this hotel with a card swiped transaction for $148. My husband and I both had our cards and since we were in another state, a card swipe transaction is impossible, so it was obviously fraudulent. I called the hotel to speak to the manager to try to determine how this charge occurred. I was told she was busy and would call me back, which she did not do. I called again and asked for the manager and was put on hold and then the person came back on the line and said the manager left. She has never called me back about the fraudulent charge.
