We decided on staying at The Anchor Inn because of it's close proximity to Foyle Park, where we were attending a wedding. Its quite a small pub with only 5 rooms ..We stayed in the Rupert Brookes room which was a fantastic size ..High ceiling with lovely beams .. I would say that there were 2 things that let the room down .. Firstly the curtains in the room were very torn, so when closed you could see where the lining was non existent they definitely need to be replaced . The other disappointment was there was no fridge in the room which would have been ideal. The balcony overlooked the garden and a field beyond .. Breakfast was very good & the service was excellent.

We stayed here as it was close to a wedding we were attending at a seperate nearby venue. They were able to take our bags before check-in time and provide instructions how to get to a room later on in the evening. Overall, very helpful, nice room and nice breakfast too.

This is an anazing place. You step into an interior straight out of the 17th century, characterful doesnt begin to describe it. Then you get a hotel quality stay but with far nicer staff. Cant praise this place enough and will be back

Fantastic! Gorgeous room which I'd have expected to pay more for. No food on Mondays (which is when I stayed) but they were really helpful recommending where I could order in from and bringing it up to me. Lovely friendly people.

Food was great. The room was not particularly clean, a bit tatty, dust in certain places and had to request a bed for the little one even though we'd organised it upfront - in their defence, a manager had been seconded from another hotel to help out and he was extremely new.

Staff were excellent - couldn't do enough for me. Food was yum too!!! Landing light did flick on and off through the night - guess a faulty bulb but hey - after a big supper it wouldn't keep me awake!!

Filthy accommodation
We had booked a one night stay at this inn as the rooms looked nice on their website. I don't know where they got the photos from, but we stayed in the Siegfried Sassoon room and it bore no resemblance to the photos whatsoever. Don't stay here if you like the windows open at night, as you can't have them open. They are side skylight windows and you either have to have them closed, or fully open so that if it rains, the room gets wet. There is no option to have them slightly open for ventilation. Also, the blinds on the window do not work properly. The tags on them have either come off, or there is nothing to keep the blind down. If you choose to use the free-standing air conditioning unit in the room, you will see from the photo attached that it is the most disgustingly filthy unit I have ever seen in my life, clogged up with thick dirt and dust. I didn't want to use it in case I caught something from it. The vent in the bathroom was also filthy and has not been cleaned for a very long time, see photo. Everything in the room and bathroom was dirty. Huge cobwebs everywhere that would only take a moment to clean away, filthy skirting boards and filthy mirrors. The bathroom towels had also seen better days and were very worn looking. Saggy, old, uncomfortable bed. There is a badly frayed cable for the bedside lamp, that looks dangerous. Blinds don't stay down, as tag has come off to hook them to wall. Never again!

Thank you for you feedback from your recent stay with us at The Anchor Inn, and firstly my apologies that the experience you had and condition of the room were not up to the standards that we would usually expect for our rooms. I have personally been up to the room to inspect the room, and looked into the areas that you have raised, and I can totally agree with why you were disappointed. I will be reviewing with my housekeeping team to ensure we don’t miss these kind of areas again, as clearly this was an oversight and areas need to be addressed and improved on.

Lovely feel to the place, luxurious, very friendly staff, excellent food, unfortunately the evening we ate in the restaurant the experience of the waiting staff wasn’t aligned to the food prices. Would go back again!

It was a lovely old inn, very warm and welcoming. The staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. The beds were comfy and the food excellent. All together a lovely night away!

Very nice place with friendly staff and good food. I found out at check-in that breakfast would not start until 8am (I normally want breakfast at 7am on a work day so I can be in the office for 8am!). I arrived at breakfast at 7.50am, and all was dark. The kitchen staff arrived after 8am and it was 8.25am before I got my breakfast (which was very nice). Note to self: Check breakfast times in advance if I go there again!

We were attending a weeding very nearby and the Anchor Inn was the nearest quality establishment. It is an authentic inn with a few rooms upstairs. Unfortunately our favourite was already booked and we had to settle for the one directly over the bar. It was spacious, well appointed but very noisy with the loud music played underneath. The management kindly turned it down after midnight. The double bed with a single mattress was a little too narrow by modern standards. Nice bathroom with a powerful shower but not aimed for anyone taller than 170 cms. Good breakfast served very efficiently in the morning. An important point, the staff is very welcoming and helpful. We shall be back but not in the same room.

Quaint hotel only a few high quality rooms.
We arrived before check-in (3pm) and were not made as welcome as we could have been by the bar staff which was slightly awkward as we we needed to drop our bags off prlor to a wedding. That being said everything else about our stay was excellent. The room was sumptuous, well equipped with bath robes and nice fluffy towels! The location is in a quite country road with little traffic to disturb. The hotel offers plenty of parking. Cooked Breakfast is more than adequate with plenty of choice and the coffee is good too!

Great hotel for a romantic break
The pub had a huge amount of character with a great atmosphere. The food and wine were delicious. The girl who showed us to our room was very helpful and accommodating. We couldn't really fault it. We'd definitely go back.
