Family-friendly vacation home in Amorgos
Lefkes, where life is as it was hundreds of years ago, is a scenic 10 minute drive/scooter ride from picturesque Katapola Harbour, “the best natural bay in the Cyclades.” The short winding drive to the home climbs up to the top of a hill, providing a dramatic vantage point of Katapola, before skirting a Minoan ruin site and descending slightly into Lefkes. This location affords the renter privacy, space, and peace, while still remaining in close proximity to the beaches and other amenities of Katapola which hosts authentic tavernas, cafes, bakeries, markets and vehicle rental (including scooters and off-road vehicles).

The house is located on a land property, measuring 4.000,00 m2. Olive trees share room with almond trees, a bamboo patch and abundant indigenous flora and herbs. The entire organic garden is officially certified as biological agricultural. Enjoy spectacular and unobstructed westward-facing views from 200 meters above the sea, onto the islands of Naxos, Mykonos and the Small Cyclades. In the winter, a spring-fed river/creek passes beneath this unique home. The charming and traditional micro-settlements of Agios Ioannis and Agia Thekla dot the rolling hills and help to complete the peaceful ambiance.

Attention to detail is what you can expect at the “Olive Garden,” built by the civil engineer Apostolia Nasiopoulou (founder of Amorgos Architects), designed by chief-architect Sylvie Trambouze and supported by local architect Panagiotis Nikolakis. This private and peaceful Lefkes hilltop retreat was built (and recently remodeled) in minimalistic traditional Cycladic architecture style, without sacrificing comfort or modern conveniences. Art is in the clean lines and spectacular views out the window.

Great care has been taken that all building materials, paint, water systems, and appliances are eco-friendly, e.g., solar energy is used for the hot water heater and all the faucets are water-saving.
Stone floors are prevalent throughout the house.
All the electric equipment, such as washing machine, dishwasher, refrigerator, air-condition etc are electricity saving models.

This two-story home with three bedrooms/two bathrooms sleeps 6-8 comfortably.

The ground floor:
a combined kitchen/dining room/living room, where in keeping with Greek tradition, cooking, eating, and living happen all together, is the center and the ''heart'' of the house. A traditional stove is the centerpiece, functional for both cooking and piping heat into all three bedrooms. There is also a proper fireplace in the living room, and an electric air conditioning/heating system with an air filter. Overhead fans cool all rooms. The kitchen is well-stocked: electric stovetop, oven, microwave, coffee maker, espresso machine, toaster, refrigerator, dishwasher etc and full complement of dishes/utensils/silverware. The living room is equipped with a flat screen television and a sound system/stereo. From the ground floor, multiple doors lead out to a wrap-around terrace featuring views of the sea and an on-site olive grove and terraced garden.
The master bedroom also accesses the terrace/garden from the ground floor. There is a double bed and a flat screen/satellite hook up. On the ground-floor, there is also the elegant main-bathroom.

The first floor:
The second and third bedroom have also flat screen televisions, and overhead fans. The second bedroom contains two single beds, which can connect to form a double bed, and a private balcony. The third bedroom has a futon couch, which sleeps two. On the first floor you can find a second bathroom. The upstairs terrace is large, and has its own outdoor staircase, serving as an alternative entrance to the house.
Air-conditioned accommodations at this vacation home offer fireplaces and DVD players. Rooms open to balconies. Kitchens offer refrigerators, stovetops, microwaves, and cookware/dishes/utensils.

Bathrooms include shower/tub combinations and hair dryers. Additionally, rooms include coffee/tea makers and irons/ironing boards. Housekeeping is provided on a limited basis.

Very clean and comfortable.
Amorgos The Olive Garden is a beautiful property in a peaceful location ten minutes by car from Katapola. The house was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Michalis was very generous stocking the fridge with food and wine. It is a great house for rest and relaxation.

Great house, great host, great island
We had the pleasure of staying at the Olive Garden for a week in August and had a wonderful time. Michalis (the owner) greeted us at the port and provided a warm welcome to the island of Amorgos. Not only was the house fully stocked with everything you could need, Michalis also provided fresh fruit, cheese and bread. Everything was organic and local. He also was happy to recommend beaches to go to and restaurants to visit. The house is fully equipped with modern appliances and very comfortable. If you’re looking for a place that’s quiet and relaxing yet still very welcoming and updated this is the place for you! We had a wonderful time on this very unique and special island, we will definetly visit again!

Absolutely beautiful.
Twenty-five years ago, my wife and I celebrated our honeymoon on Amorgos in the small village of Katapola. To celebrate our 25th anniversary we returned to Amorgos and spent two weeks at the Olive Garden in the hills above the village. It was absolutely perfect. The view from the house at sunset, as the sun gently sets behind Naxos, and several others of the Cycladic islands dot the horizon, is spectacular. The house is beautiful and well designed, with elegant simplicity. The gentle breeze and the chattering of cicadas flow through every room, blending inside and out. The owners, Michalis and Apostolia, are extremely kind and attentive and know the island (and seemingly all of the islanders) very well. We were so glad to have had the opportunity to get to know them. For us, this was a perfect vacation and an ideal location to celebrate our anniversary with our three grown children. Cosy home, great value for money, perfect location!
This vacation rental truly represents a good value for the price paid! The house is spacy, very clean, fully equipped and beautifully designed with the furniture and accessories of high quality (both inside and outside). Apparently the owners took a great attention to make this place a superb and classy summer residency. The house is enough comfortable for 6 to 8 persons (family or friends) living there at the same time while offering some quiet space outside to those who may need to rest or calm during the day. The neighborhood consists of several similar and relatively distant houses and around this small neighborhood you may find olive trees growing on the mountain hill and of course the sea/ocean. We were warmly welcomed by Michael in the Katapola port who helped us to get into the house and explained us everything we needed to know about the house. I truly recommend you to choose this rental if you look for an exquisite and quiet vacation. Note that you will need to have a car rented for daily commuting or shopping.
