Arès Beach is made up of an intriguing and eclectic terrain, from marshes and grassy areas to sandy stretches and paved squares. This landscape offers scenic and unexpected views from the bars and restaurants whose terraces line the rear of the beach. Admire the quaint buildings lining Beach Avenue, as it opens onto the strand.
Arrive at the beach and sunbathe on the sand to fully appreciate the Aquitaine region’s hot and sunny summers. Have a meal at one of the restaurants with tables set on the sand. Stretching out from the center of the beach is a pier, providing excellent views of the water and the town.
As you walk south through the picturesque woodland along the sand, you’ll soon reach the Conche de Saint Brice, which has a range of saltwater pools fed by pumps from the sea. Bring snacks and drinks for a feast with your friends in the picnic area. Walk out along the wooden pier and dive into the waves. Head to the Tourist Office to arrange a guided tour of the area or a treasure hunt for kids.
Known for its camping, Arès has several open-air lodging sites by the beach. Stay with your family in a tent at the Camping Pasteur Vacances, the Camping les Goëlands or the Camping les Abberts, among others. You’ll also have plenty of choices for hotels and cabins near the coast.
Access the beaches of Arès for free. They are open to the public at all times.
Arès Beach is on the southwestern side of Arès and faces Arcachon Bay. From the town center, walk south along Beach Avenue for about 10 minutes to reach the coast. While in the area, make sure to visit surrounding sights such as the Parc de la MGEN, the Arès Town Hall and the Église St. Eloi.
