The best time to go to Aus is during the cooler, drier months from April to October.

This period avoids the intense heat of the Namibian summer and the less predictable rainy season. During these months, daytime temperatures are pleasant for exploring, typically ranging from the mid-60s to high 70s Fahrenheit (20-25°C), with cooler evenings. The dry conditions also mean clearer skies, which are ideal for stargazing, a popular activity given Aus's remote location.

For travelers interested in wildlife viewing, particularly the wild horses of the Namib, the dry season offers excellent opportunities. With less vegetation, the horses are often easier to spot as they congregate around the few remaining water sources.
