Great to enjoy a short family break.
Family trip for one week. Bit older property and service has been ok but sometimes mixed. Room was very nice got an upgrade. Food is average, better to go to the village. Pool is nice but no children facilities- still lots of families which is nice! Amazing view and nice trail in forest! Would recommend a car to be flexible.

Nice place but could you some paint and a little upgrade here and there. Pool area was nice but not big enough when everybody wanted to visit (I.e. in need of more sun beds). Not too impressed about all the staff members we met, but overall they were smiling and helpful

Stayed here as a family and really enjoyed the location and view. Surprisingly lots of families (about 30%) despite facilities not child nor disable friendly (challenging narrow steps to pool, no child play area). Only one restaurant open (due to Covid) and menu not changing (daily special limited variety). View of rooms south facing very good!

World class location
We stopped here as part of a 6 day driving tour of Toscano and Emilia-Romana. We stayed two nights toured Barga and Lucca. It was an amazing property with the best views of the local mountains and landscape. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. Had a very good dinner one night at the hotel too

Poor hotel dated
Attended for a wedding booked king size bed room and gave two single beds. Were rude and not accommodating at all, bar staff were rude and dated old hotel not worth the money spent.

Highlight of our Trip
This was a dream hotel. The ambiance was breathtaking! The staff were so unbelievably kind, helpful and funny! The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. There were some complementary snacks, water and wine. The facilities were great. There was a really nice and large gym, a great pool and excellent dining selections. We felt totally relaxed here and it was a great way to wind down our trip.

Fantastic hotel
This was a short break for out pearl wedding anniversary . The staff were kind and helpful, they even left us a celebratory cake in our room! Spa facilities are wonderful and we generally had a brilliant few days! Definitely recommend a stay here!

Amazing hotel , spectacular views ,food was delicious and the staff were exceptional Book a room with breakfast as probably works out cheaper especially if you don't have a car to get to Barga You can take a shuttle from hotel but only at certain times so this can be limiting.. Taxi service available but expensive if only two of you paying, car hire is very reasonable and you can make the most of the area as lots of places to visit. We took a train to Pisa from Barga for a day trip which was cheap and easy to do.

Nice hotel in the countryside
We had a wonderful time and loved the hotel. Staff was super helpful. Loved our room, food was great - menu might be a bit limited if you were staying for a long time - we ate there 3 nights in a row. The only thing for us was we thought we booked a place close to Lucca the town and this resort was in fact about 45 min drive from town. In the end we were fine with it because it was so nice.

Stunning views
Hotel is in Barga, a beautiful town with steep narrow streets, lots of shops, lots of (29) restaurants with great food, more great views, people are super friendly and the wine is fantastic. The hotel food was very good as were the prices. There are some incredible cafe pastry shops with outstanding coffee to start your morning adventures. Our stay was for 2 nights and we were sad leaving, we'll be back one day.

Service was first class from all staff in hotel and made to feel most welcome. Rooms very comfortable with great air conditioning. Great base to explore local area or further afield and return to a peaceful relaxing hotel with great snack and restaurant food..

The hotel is clean and well laid out. It is remote so if you want close to the major tourist areas and great wineries this is not the place. If you want to escape to relax and not really go anywhere, this is the place. The staff except one lady at the front desk were not the normal friendly customer service you expect from Marriott.

Stunning views over the valley
Stunning views from the hotel and great for relaxation. The location the side of a valley is accessed by a steep and winding road (approx 2km from the main road from Barga). Best if you have your own car as Lucca and Pisa are about 1 hour drive although very helpful staff will be happy to make arrangements. The only slight disappointment was the size of our 'executive' room which was a bit small.

Great view, amazing location
I came here for business but had a great stay. The view was outstanding, food was great and the pool and gym were also a great treat. Will probably come again with my family. The hotel is great for star tours in Tuscany.

The Renaissance Tuscany is set in the most beautiful surroundings, high up so you can see the whole valley. It's a slightly odd experience though. Underneath, the service is good (albeit slightly awkward in places) and people are genuinely kind. And the food was delicious. However, the building itself doesn't feel Italian at all - more like a sprawling, large-scale America resort rather than a sophisticated, boutique Italian experience. There are a lot of business travelers so the infrastructure (wifi, fitness, pool, spa) is good - but it just didn't marry up with our expectations or feel part of the countryside.

This was a lovely hotel with everything you could possibly want. Beautiful mountain views and a true holiday experience. The hotel is very well kept, clean and a great range of amenities. The staff are lovely and cannot do enough to help however service is a little slow. The food is good however as previous reviews have mentioned I did not feel were value for money. €18 for a small burger and fries is a little pricey. However strangely the drinks which you would expect to pay over inflated prices for in a large hotel chain were quite reasonable. I would stay here again but my advice is definitely head into local town of Barga and grab yourself an amazing pattiserie breakfast for a fraction of the price....

We had a lovely stay. Staff were extremely courteous and helpful. Good location with fantastic views overlooking the valley. Barga is a short drive away and a hidden gem. Decent size room although not generous. Excellent amenities, extremely good cuisine and a very generous breakfast buffet. We will be back for sure!

Great hilltop retreat
We stayed for just one night in this hilltop hotel. Fantastic views across hills and valleys. The hotel itself is a little too big to feel personal but all the staff were lovely and helpful. The dinner was delicious. Not gourmet but very tasty and couldn't fault it. The room was comfortable and very clean. Overall a great place to stay

I loved this hotel. We stayed for 6 nights. The service was fantastic - including the taxi driver who went above and beyond to get us to the train station on time for our departure.

Very nice accomodation, but quite remote location
I have heard that this hotel was recently renovated, and it definitely seems newly redone. Rooms are very modern and comfortable. The resort is approximately a 15 minute drive up a hill from Barga, so it is a fairly remote location.

What's the point? Too far away, not much to do...
To be honest, this resort, spa is a waste of time and money and very much not up to the usual marriot renaissance standards. We checked in, and the walk from the reception to our room was a good 5 minutes with two different elevator changes, and no one offered to take our bags. It's an absolute rabbit warren. Half the rooms in the hotel have a view of the service area at the back of the hotel, despite the communal areas of the hotel having great views. The rooms are also very small. The bathroom was in a bad state, the shower head leaked and dribbled, the toilet roll holder was falling off the wall, there was no wall socket for the hair dryer. The TV had three english speaking channels, all news channels & the movies were 14 euro. We then rang the spa to see what treatments we could have, and they were booked out for the next two days, despite our stay being in October (outside of peak season), pretty disappointing after being told that we didn't need to prebook... It's a resort & spa... WHAT THE??! The relax area, it had an okay pool and the sauna was good, but there wasn't much else to offer. We tried to take a walk around the area to take in the view, but the walking tracks are not maintained, and some were dangerous, once again disappointing. Food in the fine dining restaurant was tasty but expensive. Overall, a very low point of our Italian holiday. Would not recommend to anyone until they lift their game!
