Had a great stay at The Grand Hotel. Lovely room, nice bar. Only slight downside was a chaotic breakfast on our second day. Service seemed to be left to one hard working lady and elements of the ‘full English’ had been shown to the grill rather than cooked more fully. In contrast, the previous day’s breakfast had been spot on.

Popular places to visit

Greyfriars - the remains of a Tudor friary, wedged between Eastgate shopping centre and a construction site. The 70s office buildings built alongside spoil the view somewhat, but it's a nice reminder of Gloucester's historic past. Plus Cafe René's summer live music events are right next door!

Obviously we travel a lot but lately we have been opening our eyes in our home city of Gloucester. This is the St Mary de Crypt Church in Southgate Street which we have walked past hundreds of times without taking notice. It was first recorded in 1140 and is located adjacent to the Greyfriars.
