"Hotel rooms (suite) need complete renovation. Some areas of the room were new and other areas old. Breakfast area nice and many food choices. Read a review that rated this hotel 8.8 out of 10. I would rate it 6.5 out of 10. Also said it was 24 miles from South Haven but actually takes 38 minutes to get there. Not because of traffic, but route you need to take."

"This property we were told has only just been under new management for a short period of time. The manager asked that if we had any issues or seen anything that needed to be address that was already not on the list to just let her know so they could add it to the list. When we got into our room the maintenance man was in there doing things that needed to be done in the bathroom. Which no problem. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were nice. The air conditioner did keep the room cool as long as you didnt mind the fact it sounded like a hurricane trying to get in your room. The hotel would benefit from closing down some rooms at a time and just redoing them in my opinion. The side door that you are suppose to use a room key to get in does not even close or lock. I know it will take time for the new management to get things done but knowing the maintenance man said he fixed everything in our bathroom to only find out it took the toilet several minutes to flush, the sink faucet was hard to even push up and the shower ceiling had mold on it. The closet was half way painted like someone had started it then just completely stopped. I hope the new management gets the stuff done that needs to without just putting a bandaid on it and saying its all good."

"Room wasn't cleaned fully. Dried sink, tub, and toilet cleaner still stuck to porcelain. Pubic hair on sink and tub. No hand or bathsoap stocked, no toilet paper stocked. Dirty sheets still in a pile on desk. Cleaning supplies including a bottle labeled "weed killer" left out on counter. Dirty toilet scrub brush in garbage bag on floor. I was soaked to red when I arrived I was didn't want to wait for the hassle I'd room reassignment. Place reeks of weed and very loud group of game watchers gathered in breakfast area off of foyer and were so loud after 11 PM I could hear them on the second floor. Management did not nothing to quiet them for other guests. This has never been a stellar place, but this was the final straw for me. Been there numerous times and this was the last."

"If I could give this place a rating of 100 for cleanliness I would! Other guests commented the same. I didn't spot one cobweb or dirty corner anywhere, inside or out. That to me is priority. The pool was also sparkling clean and heated. Still a little chill but nothing unbearable. I was there the 1st week of June. The staff was amazing. Very helpful when needed. The bed was comfy. The little areas dotted along the property with campfires ready to light, were a nice touch. I spent my mornings on the swing by the pond with my coffee, listening to the waterfall across the way. I loved this place! I do have to say, however, dont expect anything fancy. Its pretty "old school". Rooms are plain and aged some. Could use a few more tables within the rooms to put stuff on. No pictures on the walls, so didnt feel "cozy", but clean and functional. That would be my only gripe. Nicely located so day trips to other towns like Saugatuck, Holland and Grand Haven were within a 15 -50 minutes drive. Grand Haven State Park is definitely worth going to. Beaches were beautiful. I will def be returning next year for another relaxing long weekend. Maybe stay a few days longer! 😉"
