Welcome to Farmer Armour! The ideal farm stay NSW getaway set on 22 acres of sheep paddocks and berry orchard. With a dam, views of Jugiong Creek and surrounding sheep stations in the farming community of Bookham, NSW. Conveniently located just 6 km off the Hume Highway, 4 hr drive from Sydney, 6 hrs from Melbourne and 1.5 hrs from Canberra, making it a great place to stop and refresh on your journey.
The Space:
Farmer Armour is a farm stay NSW escape set overlooking Jugiong Creek, surrounding sheep stations, rolling hills, and nearby attractions such as Burrinjuck Dam, Long Track Pantry, Sir George Hotel, Bowning Pub, Barneys Cafe, and Rollonin Cafe.
Here, you get to enjoy off-grid accommodation with split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. The bathroom, however, follows ecologically sustainable principles, including a waterless eco-friendly compost toilet, hand basin, and shower (gas heated for hot showers). We also have a gas BBQ, outdoor setting and fire pit included to enjoy nature and big starry skies in comfort.
If you plan to spend your farm stay NSW getaways here, we advise that you bring your basic necessities and food during your stay with us as there are no local stores to purchase. The closest are Yass (30 min drive north) and Gundagai (45mins drive south). There is no fuel available in Bookham, and to Yass is only 30 mins north and Jugiong 20 mins south of the tiny house.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the tiny house and its surroundings, including the 300 meters gravel driveway and the gated paddock. If you are interested, we also have pre-orders listed below by prior arrangement with the host 24 hrs before arrival.
- Firewood is available at $25 per stay
- We are a working farm and have seasonal produce of berries that can be purchased (currently out of season)
The Neighborhood:
Farmer Armour sits in the local farm community of Bookham, NSW. Conveniently accessed on asphalt road, positioned between a traveling stock reserve, sheep stations and Jugiong Creek. While the Murrumbidgee River can be reached at the end of the road (15-20 kilometers), farm animals and agricultural noise are common in the area and around the properties. All of them are working farms with livestock, horticulture, and/or crops.
Our local recommendations:
- Bowning is 20 mins for Bowning pub, Rollonin Cafe and post office
- Yass 30 mins - local centre for shopping, major grocery chains, fuel, services, eateries, etc.
- Binalong is 15 mins for 2 Little Pigs Cafe, Cafe on Queen, and Binalong Hotel and a few stores
- Barneys Cafe Bookham 7kms from Farmer Armour serves light meals and drinks for breakfast and lunch
- Jugiong village is about 20 mins away with celebrated eateries/drinks at Long Track Pantry and Sir George Hotel and boutique shops
- Burrinjuck Dam is about 30 mins away for fishing, walks, scenic drive, nature, and a view of the dam wall (no access). No pets are allowed as is a nature reserve. Reflections Holiday Park can be accessed (entry fee $15 per car for the day) for the boat ramp, swimming, fishing, kiosk, amenities, etc
Getting Around:
By car:
- 1 hr and 15 min, 99 km drive from Canberra CBD
- 3 hrs and 21 min, 314 km drive from Sydney CBD
- 6 hrs and 6 min, 577 km drive from Melbourne CBD
Please note that all are sealed roads to the front gate.
By public transport: No public transports are avaiable directly off the property/tiny house. Yass, NSW (37 km) has regular trains and buses on site.
Other Things to Note:
- No smoking allowed on the property
- There is ample access for a horse float
- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed
- This property has a dedicated horse-holding yard with shade trees
- Recycling and composting bins are provided to dispose of trash properly
- Please note that this is a PET-FRIENDLY property, and pet policies will be sent prior to arrival
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge

- Gates marked as "private" are restricted from entering
- Remember to shut the gates before entering and leaving
Safety Guidelines
- Given the farm's rural setting, children are welcome with CLOSE ADULT SUPERVISION
- Guests are advised to exercise caution as the property is a farm hazard that may be a danger to them
- We recommend guests wear comfortable clothing when roaming around the farm. During snake season, we recommend wearing long loose pants and close-toed shoes such as boots and sneakers when roaming around the property
Important note:
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present on the property
- Keep in mind that BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
- In order to maintain the cleanliness and functionality of our compost toilets a minimum additional cleaning fee is applied for stays of 5 nights or more. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a hygienic experience during your stay.
