Fantastic home away from home
The location was perfect for us since we arrived by ferry from Vancouver. The beds were super comfortable (a must for me) and had we used the kitchen it had everything we could possibly have needed.

Refreshing retreat indeed
The house is nested in a quiet neighborhood, perfect for a retreat to the nature with family. It’s spacious for 5 people to stay, clean, simple, and nicely decorated, not tacky at all. The owner responded to our questions promptly. We enjoyed our stay at this house for 4 nights.

Perfect location, not private
We stayed for a month and intentionally booked a single family home for the space and expected privacy that comes along with a detatched 3 bedroom bouse. The house is lovely, beds comfortable and kitchen well equipped. It is perfectly located for touring Victoria and surrounding area. If you book this house, be aware the owner spends many nights sleeping in the detatched garage 10 feet from the front door with no notice or communication.

Hello, I am grateful, to everyone that visits. I will continue to prove and improve on the property. The garage which is positioned in a separate detached building on the property, is not part of the rental. A private office, is kept in there, in order to keep eyes on occupancy levels and to ensure parking and house rules are followed. You are welcome to use the yard at anytime front back and side. The house is located in a neighbourhood setting, there are houses all around. With spring and summer approaching I will be around looking after the lawn recycling and garbage. It is my hope you will and visit and enjoy every day. Thanks

Odd, but nice and well appointed
The house itself is very nice and has all the basic necessities included. However, it was quite obvious that the owner is handling the cleanings between stays himself — crumbs and general small floor debris; could use a good sweep and mop. The coffee maker was a disaster when we arrived — my father in law took it upon himself to deep clean before using. Again, the house itself is fantastic! The mattresses are all very very cozy, water pressure is great too! HOWEVER, discovering a stranger seemingly casing our vehicles in the driveway midway through our stay was quite alarming - especially when it turned out to be the owner Seymour who had apparently been sleeping in the tiny garage outside the front entrance of the house the whole time… Too creepy, never staying here again.

Amazing property

Weekend Birthday Getaway
Spent 3 nights here- easily accommodated the 7 of us. Had breakfast in the house each day, didn’t need to search for anything we needed- all readily available. Short ride into Victoria. We had a great time & slept well on the comfy beds.

Relaxing yet close to town
Seymour’s house is a comfortable and relaxing stay which is a 15 minute walk to Butchart Gardens (find the shortcut through the woods on Google Maps!) and a short 25 minute drive to Victoria Harbor. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking our own dinners, the beds are comfortable and the back deck is wonderful for morning coffee or evening dinners, and for watching deer and other critters in the back yard. It’s an efficient base for exploring Vancouver Island, as we made drives to Port Renfrew, Sooke, Ladysmith and Duncan. Make sure you try Blue’s Bayou just a short walk down to Brentwood Bay. Grocery and specialty meat (Carnivores) and Seafood market next door to it is just a couple of KM away. We highly recommend Seymour’s property!

Decent place to stay
Communication with the owner was easy and he responded quickly. The property overall was good but it needs some maintenance (ice maker, fireplace not working) and could be cleaner (not swept under couch when hide-a-bed pulled out, etc). The beds were very comfortable and in good shape but the furniture is all worn. The pool table was a nice bonus.

Quiet well appointed property with all the amenities
This house was exactly as the pictures showed. It had everything we needed and it's located on a quiet cul de sac. Seymour was always available to answer any questions. And it's air conditioned! Which was greatly appreciated as it was over 30C (85F) the 4 days we were there.

Great getaway
My husband, my Dad and another couple (close friends) stayed here for a week vacation. It was a fantastic house that we could all visit comfortably but have our own space as well. The kitchen had everything we needed and we made most of our suppers here easily. The pool table and piano were a nice touch. Seymour was easy to communicate with for any issues or questions that came up. The neighborhood was very quiet and beautiful. It acted as a good base camp for our activities around Victoria and up Island. Overall a wonderful place to stay.

Perfect family stay
The house was exactly as shown and the owner had thoughtfully stocked it with everything you might need. Our family of 2 grandparents, 3 adult children and 2 little ones had all the space we needed while attending a wedding at a nearby winery and visiting the sights of Victoria. The property was as shown on vrbo listing had all the amenities needed was very spacious and a great location for butchart gardens Victoria and the malahat skywalk all of which we did.Played quite a few games of pool at the house which was a nice addition to the property and had great meals at brewskys a nearby local pub.

Perfect in every way
Seymour's home was perfect for our week of family exploration. The location was great for being able to explore everything we wanted to from downtown Victoria, to the famous glass beach in Sidney. The views from the decks were stunning, and the house was so spacious it was such a treat and perfect for our young kids to play throughout. For those of you wondering, there is a nice size yard in the back, big enough to play a bit of soccer or frisbee or what not. We will be back!

Friends & Family Gathering Place
Spent 6 weeks in Brentwood Bay with different friends & family coming and going. Home worked well. Kitchen well equipped. Bedrooms spacious with functional closets. Pool table provided hours of entertainment. Host was very good to communicate with. Most everything was labeled and obvious. The home was great in all aspects.

Home Away From Home
What an amazing stay ! Seymour our host was so awesome. So lucky to have him share his wonderful family home with us. Clean, roomy for our family of 6 and close to ferries and other beautiful island getaways. Only 20 min to downtown Victoria! Very quiet and love the pool table and beautiful surroundings. Fantastic Stay in Brentwood
What a very comfortable, family friendly house located just minutes from Butchart Gardens and great food. The kitchen was our central gathering spot, as was the dining room table that doubled as a puzzle and gaming table. Our teens loved the pool table and piano. (Our son loved the Apple TV) On our way home we talked about the need to go back to the same house but this time in the summer and bring our bikes and rent some kayaks in the bay. We also would have made better use of the deck furniture if it hadn't been a bit too cool. Best Thanksgiving week ever.

Close to the gardens
The house was very nice and suited our needs well. Butchart Gardens was the main reason for our trip so being a few blocks away was perfect. We got the annual passes and were able to go over every day and spend some time. The neighborhood was mostly quiet but was quiet at night which is always important. Overall it was a nice place to stay.

Great stay near Victoria
Our group of 6, 3 couples driving throughout Vancouver Island, stayed at this property and loved it! Comfortable beds, spotless kitchen and bathrooms, and a great porch to relax and put our feet up. We biked to Butchart gardens, and walked to the marina. We wish it was closer to Victoria, but weren't able to find any place closer that would accommodate 3 vehicles. So - this home was perfect for our group and the owner was easy to reach and communicate with!

Tranquil & perfectly located
Seymour's Castle in the Sky is a well appointed, perfectly located, tranquil home. He was easy to reach while making our plans and available during our stay if we needed anything. Our walk to breakfast and the Butchart Gardens was easy - great location. The home is very clean and lacks nothing. Just wish we had more time to enjoy it all - we'll be back!

Great Location.
We really enjoyed the location, the privacy, the kitchen, the BBQ and had excellent weather. There were five adults and a noticeable shortage of towels for morning showers was frustrating. The bathtub had a white powder all over it so I assumed it had not been cleaned. (As a result no one used the bath.) My daughters felt there were far too many notes posted everywhere explaining what to do and what not to do. The house manual should have been the place to do that. I suspect some renters don't know what we consider to be obvious things.

Hi Valerie, I am grateful you took the time to write a review. There where extra towels beside the soaker tub that where not used, as wells as extra towels in the upstairs hall closet. Perhaps I need to be more clear on where the extra towels are moving forward. The soaker tub was cleaned with Vim, and sometimes there is a white powder residue left behind. Sorry about that , I will try and do a better job of rinsing it off. The notes, are there to protect the guests and the property. Notes relating to emergency call numbers, 911, emergency natural gas issues, and water main shut off identification. I will continue to improve moving forward hope to welcome you back. Thanks

Nice Quiet Near Brentwood Bay
Great location for exploring the Saanich peninsula and enjoying the various things to do in and around Victoria. Home was good for 2 couple and accommodates 3 couples too. Definitely would consider staying at this home again.

4 days of respite
What a nice place. It's in a good location not too far from Victoria and in a quiet neighborhood. The house is very nice with pretty hard wood floors. The master bedroom has a super comfy mattress. Although we didn't use the soaker tub, gas grill or pool table others would enjoy them. As a tea drinker I was happy to have an electric kettle. All in all a big thumbs up from these 3 travelers.

Beautiful home. Great for families
We had an amazing time at this home. It is very clean and comfortable. Also, it is beautiful and a short distance from a park and the Gardens. The owner is hospitable and helpful. I couldn't ask for a better place to be then in this house.

A perfect fit for us!!! Great place, owner owner, well equipped
Quiet, well equipped, comfortable, super clean, modern... what more is there. In the Victoria area, there really isn't anyplace that is far from anyplace, so if you like have some room to move, a well equipped place so you can feel comfortable spending time there, quiet, but close enough to access Victoria and services, this is a great place. For us, having a full kitchen was great for the 5 of us. We didn't need to make big meals, which we could have, but we could do all of the basics that a family of 5 would want. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat, and will. The owner is a great guy... just right. Perfect for our family group! Don't be afraid at all to book here!

Fairly modern, beautiful inside.
The house is in a quiet cul-de-sac close to Brentwood Bay, just 20 minutes north of Victoria. Décor is beautiful and unique to the area. Helpful maps and brochures. Pool table, large screen TVs, master bedroom fireplace were big hits too. Slept comfortably, made great meals. Kitchen stocked with dishes, etc. Also many food items in pantry were left behind by others which helped with meal prep. Used the BBQ a few times during our 5-day stay. Owner was available, although we were already well taken care of.

Lovely home, good location
My family of four enjoyed our two night stay at "Castle in the Sky." It is apparent that the owner has spent time caring for the home; the woodwork is beautiful. We were a bit put off by all the instructive labels but having read the reviews, we were expecting it. Our two teenage boys loved the pool table. The home would benefit from some soft touches such as curtains and rugs in some rooms to absorb sound and filter light. The master bedroom was very bright in the morning, making it difficult to sleep in, although sleeping masks were provided. The kitchen was well equipped. The home is a short drive to a grocery store, 3 minutes from Butchart Gardens, about 1/2 hour from Victoria, and about 20 minutes from Sidney. Overall, I recommend this property.

The rugs would be nice however I have allergies and area rugs would effect my health. The blinds are a consideration, I really enjoy the morning and night sky so they have been left off. Great location for a Sidney wedding
This was a lovely home. The pre check-in was thorough and there were no problems on arrival. The kitchen was well stocked although we did not prepare much food. The bedrooms were comfortable. The master bedroom is spacious and the bathroom great. There are no blinds or curtains so the morning sun wakes you quite early. There are eye shades to wear if you would like. The other two bedrooms have curtains which are frayed which was a contrast to the remainder of the home. The sofa bed was slightly uncomfortable and could use a memory foam topper. A lovely place to spend a few hours on the weekend!

Hi Mathew, I am grateful you took the time to write a review. Thank you for your suggestions. In regard to the master bedroom blinds. I really enjoy the sky both at night and in the morning, so blinds have never been a priority for me, however moving forward it is a consideration. The frayed curtains in the other two bedrooms could use replacement. Memory foam for the sofa bed is a good idea, as well. Best of luck, look forward to seeing you again.

Played a lot of pool
excellent proximity to Butchart Garden and Butterfly Garden. No amenity was missing in the home. Landlord was conscientious to our needs.

Beautiful house in central location
The house is beautiful and spacious. It was very comfortable for our family of 7, all adults. The location perfect in central Saanich. Easy to get to Victoria and nearby Sidney. It has a great private balcony where we could relax after a busy day. We'll come again :-)

Perfect house for 3 couples. We kayaked, watched whales and dined!
This beautiful home is tucked away in the trees on a hilltop. Very quiet and private and wonderfully equipped. The master suite is very nice. If you want to combine a trip to Butchart Gardens with ocean kayaking, whale watching and a spa experience, this spot is perfect. A great walking trail down to the shore was within walking distance too!
