Perfect Charente Gite
Our family enjoyed the best of holidays thanks to Susie and Crawford, who were fabulous (but unobtrusive) hosts. The Gite itself was beautiful, wonderfully equipped and spotlessly clean. The entire family could not get enough of the swimming pool.
The property was perfectly located, remote enough to allow one to become immersed living in rural France but close enough to all amenities (at Matha). Cognac was only a 15-20 minute drive away. The other, big attractions (Palmyre Zoo, the aquarium at La Rochelle and the beaches) were a little over an hour away (and the drive is perfectly pleasant). We would also recommend Sainte.
There is so much to enjoy in the area and the wildlife is in abundance, right on your doorstep. You can see even more by taking a leisurely boat-ride/canoe down the River Charente from Cognac (which is highly recommended).
All in all, a perfect holiday, in a perfect Gite in our favourite region of France, all thanks (again!) to Susie and Crawford.
