We spent one night at Salute Hotel Group (SHG Hotel Bologna) on our way back to Canada after a week in Dubai. Exhausted, hungry, and desperate to go to sleep, I did a quick hotel search on Expedia and selected SHG because it had connecting rooms and it was close to the airport and train station. SO glad I did. SHG is an old, but charming hotel with an excellent restaurant. The staff are polite, but not friendly but it didn’t bother me. As black Canadians, who have traveled around the world for years, I have learned the nicest, friendliest, people are housekeeping, not reception! I would highly recommend SHG, and when you do add the breakfast option. Lots of healthy choices, fresh and tasty. Worth every penny! Next time I am in Bologna, I'm definitely staying at SHG Hotel Bologna.

The hotel is lovely. Many of the high ceilings are frescoed and the floors are marble. Although our room was not large it was well appointed and luxurious w upholstered wall and fine lenin sheets. Our room was ver quiet as well. The location for the hotel is perfect!

Check in was super hard. We didn’t get the self check in link and the host didn’t respond to messages on Expedia

Villa Regina is very tired, poorly maintained room; black mould in shower, cracked shower tray, sloppy paint job, dirty rug, cupboards that stank of damp and old and made all my clothes stink and little to no soundproofing. It’s a 4 star that would struggle to get a 3 star rating in any other country. Staff on reception were so aloof, least friendly we’d come across. Property has no pool service, all courts are dirty, just not up to its 4/5 star billing. I’m sure the new annex is better but I would not pay €900 a night to stay in this hotel. It doesn’t deserve 5 stars.
