12 de Octubre is full of surprises, but don't limit yourself to only one place. Organize a set of wheels and head off to see what's in the wider area. Here are a few ideas:

• Make tracks to Comitan de Dominguez for a fun-filled sightseeing adventure. Around 95 miles from 12 de Octubre, it has many great sights such as Tenam Puente Archaeological Zone.
• Next stop? La Trinitaria, which is around 80 miles away. Lagunas de Montebello National Park is one local highlight you shouldn't miss.
