When you've ticked off the well-known sights in Budapest City Centre, there's more to see in the region. Collect the keys to a rental car, pack your bags in the trunk and hit the open road. These are some drives we think you'll love:

• Győr is about 65 miles from Budapest City Centre. Renowned attractions like Audi Arena deserve to be high on your list while you're in town.
• Your next pit stop? Consider Miskolc, which is around 90 miles away. Cave Bath is one local hot spot you shouldn't miss.
• Zemplén Kalandpark is approximately 140 miles from Budapest City Centre and is one of the region's most gorgeous nature spots. Go for a wander around and enjoy the fresh air here.

If you don't possess a driver's license issued in Hungary, then you may need to get an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your place of residence to be able to rent a car. You should also be aware that if an IDP is required, it has no validity on its own. You'll be asked to show your current license your passport and other forms of identification as well. Lastly, it's important that the credit card used to book the rental matches the name on your license and passport. Some added requirements for international car rentals are:

• Age restrictions: You need to be 25 or older in many countries to rent a car. If you're younger, it may still be possible to rent a car but you'll have to pay a Young Driver's Surcharge. Additional restrictions may also apply to the types of vehicles you can rent.
