Once you've checked out all of the fabulous sights in Buji, there's a lot more to see in the surrounding region. Grab the keys to a rental car, stow your bags in the trunk and get on the road. These are some drives we think you'll enjoy:

• Macau is approximately 45 miles from Buji. Notable attractions like Ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral should be at the top of your list here.
• Around 65 miles away, Guangzhou is also a hit with wanderers. Allow time to get to Canton Fair Complex while you're here. It's one of the reasons people love this city.
• Make your way to Danxia National Park for a day out in nature. Pack a picnic to enjoy or just recharge your batteries in the fresh air. From Buji, it's 170 miles away.

If you don't have a driver's license issued in China, then it's likely you'll need to apply for an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your place of residence to be able to rent a car. You should also note that if an IDP is required, it won't be valid on its own. You'll be asked to show your current driver's license your passport and other forms of documentation as well. Lastly, make sure the credit card used to book the rental matches the name on your license and passport. Some other things to note for international car rentals are:

• Age restrictions: You must be at least 25 in most places to rent a car. If you're younger than that, it might still be possible to rent a car but you'll have to pay a Young Driver's Surcharge. Additional restrictions may also apply to what kinds of cars you can rent.
• Driving limitations: Be sure to read the fine print before driving away. Usually, you can't cross country borders, drive on ferries or on certain types of rugged terrain with a rental car.
