There's heaps to do in Colonia Andrés, but venture farther afield and you'll find even more magic. Organize a set of wheels and you can explore the greater area at your own speed. Add these fantastic drives to your to-do list:

• Head off to Cancun for a fun-filled sightseeing experience. Approximately 45 miles from Colonia Andrés, it's home to lots of amazing sights like La Isla Shopping Mall.
• Around 40 miles away, Tulum is also popular with travelers. Set aside time to experience Tulum Mayan Ruins while you're in town. It's one of the reasons people love this vibrant city.
• Get out into the great outdoors and inhale the fresh air at Progreso Beach. It's approximately 180 miles from Colonia Andrés.

If you don't have a driver's license issued in Mexico, then you'll likely need to get an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your place of residence in order to rent a car. It's also important to note that if you do need an IDP, it won't be valid on its own. You'll have to show your current license your passport and other forms of documentation as well. Lastly, make sure the credit card used to book the rental matches the name on your license and passport. Some added requirements to rent a car internationally are:

• Age restrictions: You must be at least 25 in most places to rent a car. If you're younger than that, it may still be possible to rent a car but you'll have to pay a Young Driver's Surcharge. Additional restrictions may also apply to the types of cars you can rent.
• Driving limitations: Be sure to read the rules and regulations before driving away. With rental cars, you usually can't cross country borders, drive on ferries or on certain types of rugged terrain with a rental vehicle.
