There's heaps to do in La Colina, but venture farther afield and you'll find even more magic. Arrange a set of wheels and you can wander around the greater area at your own speed. Add these fantastic places to your travel schedule:

• Ambato is approximately 75 miles from La Colina. Popular sights like Mall of the Andes deserve to be high on your must-see list while you're in town.
• Your next stop? Esmeraldas, which is around 110 miles away. Malecón Las Palmas is one local draw card you won't want to miss.
• Get into the great outdoors and breathe in some fresh air at General Villamil Beach. It's approximately 210 miles from La Colina.

If you don't have a driver's license issued in Ecuador, then you'll likely need to acquire an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your place of residence to be allowed to rent a car.
