Sheshan has plenty to keep you busy, but don't limit yourself to just one place. Grab a set of wheels and take to the road to discover what else awaits in the wider area. Here are some ideas:

• Hangzhou is roughly 85 miles from Sheshan. Well-known tourist spots like West Lake deserve to be high on your must-see list here.
• Your next pit stop? Suzhou, which is around 40 miles away. Shantang Street is one local hot spot you shouldn't miss.
• Find your way to Huangshan Mountains for a day out in nature. Take a picnic to enjoy or just relax and unwind. From Sheshan, it's roughly 190 miles away.

If you don't have a driver's license issued in China, then it's likely you'll need to get an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your place of residence to be able to rent a car. You should also be aware that if an IDP is required, it won't be valid on its own. You'll be asked to show your current license your passport and other forms of documentation as well.
