There are so many adventures to be had in Uptown, but head farther afield and you'll find more sightseeing magic. Book a set of wheels and you can wander around the surrounding area at your own pace. Add these awesome drives to your to-do list:

• Coimbra is 110 miles from Uptown. Notable attractions like Portugal dos Pequenitos deserve a place on your must-see list here.
• Roughly 70 miles away, Évora is also a hit with wanderers. Set aside time to check out Évora Cathedral while you're here. It's one of the reasons people love visiting this colorful city.
• Falesia Beach is 130 miles from Uptown and is one of the region's most breathtaking nature spots. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the fresh air here.

If you don't hold a driver's license issued in Portugal, then you may need to acquire an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country in order to rent a car. It's also important to note that if you do need an IDP, it has no validity on its own. You'll be asked to show your current license your passport and other forms of ID as well.
