Historic charm you expect in Ireland however this hotel and the room was really worn. Single chair in the room was very stained and I did not want to sit on it. The room carpet looked dingy and I didn’t want to walk on it without shoes. Bed wasn’t very comfortable and pillows were poor. Breakfast was good, not great. Staff were friendly and there was plenty to eat. Our room faced the street and there were loud trucks from 3am and we were able to hear people in the bar all night long and a loud crowd on the Main Street at 1:30am. Walking around town very easy and close to abbey ruins and shops. I would look for other accommodations if I returned to Cong.

We absolutely loved our stay at Ashford Castle! The castle is breathtaking and all the people that work there were so welcoming. We would highly recommend staying here.

This property is not at the castle but rather on the castle grounds. I was told it is a “different experience” than those staying at the castle. It was generally a very nice stay. A delicious breakfast was the highlight of our stay. Other meals were more hit or miss and though tasty, a bit overpriced considering the more informal atmosphere. The decor was a bit bizarre, like they couldn’t figure out what style they were going for. Some areas were like a Las Vegas casino with mirrors, bright red tiles and modern art, while a turn of the corner elicited a feel for 18th century rural charm with a cozy fireplace.
