Visit to Caltagirone, Sicily
On a tour of central and Eastern Sicily we stayed 2 nights here just outside Caltagirone which is a lovely hill top city famous for ceramics. Casale delle Rose was recommended to me by friends and we were not disappointed. HOWEVER if you want hotel services and luxury go elsewhere. This is a charming working organic farm - if you want to stay on a farm that makes its own pasta from the wheat they grow, drink their own wine and orange juice and put their own marmalade on their home made bread whilst seriously relaxing and taking in the fantastic view then you will not be disappointed. They could do with some aircon in the rooms but other than that nothing but positive things to say...........and the owners, staff, people on the farm are simply lovely.

A wonderful getaway!
We were greeted by Valentino who immediately made us feel right at home. She personally brought us drinks to enjoy on our private balcony before dinner. The dinner was made fresh from the garden! All courses were delicious! The farming is extensive and well run. We highly recommend this lovely gem!

Lovely place to stay close to town.
If you like listening to birds rather than cars or motorbikes, this is an ideal place. The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are nice, and the beds are comfortable. If you stay here, you will want to have dinner at least one night. You won’t get food this good at a restaurant. Sorry we had only one night...next time I would spend a week!

Very relaxing stay
A very pleasant stay here. Lovely location, food was excellent and service just as good. If your your looking for some time away from the hussel and busell of busy everyday life then this is the place for you. Staff were lovely and welcoming and I would definitely return

Working organic farm, with inn run by nice family.
This farm supplies the restaurant, and the cook is 73 year old dad. Reception is usually one of 2 friendly young women. As I remember, dinner was good, and the room comfortable. I enjoyed walking around the property and into the orchard, hearing the cow. I could see that much work is underway. Some were disappointed that the pool was not yet available (late May). The roads coming to the property from both directions are narrow, not unusual in Sicily (and Caltagirone was a real challenge). The wifi worked well.

Beautiful setting, exceptional hospitality
A beautiful location, and views from our room. The evening meals were delicious, using the farm's own produce and home made wine, pasta and cheeses. The family and staff were very welcoming - heartily recommended.

A Hidden Gem!
Fantastic staff, genuine warm welcome. Farm cooking was excellent, almost everything produced on the property. Good wine and very, very reasonably priced. Will recommend to all friends who are planning a trip to Sicily. One of the best value and quality farm stays we have experienced.

Nice rural place
Nice place out in the fields (but very close to the city), ideal to get a touch of the old rural world. Very well maintained (have some new areas), comfortable, nicely staffed by the owners.

Amazing!
Incredible little gem that we found on hotels.com. Tucked away in a little valley near the fabulous town of Caltigirone (we went down the wrong road trying to find it and an entire family came out of their house to guide us on our way). Its such a peaceful and stunning location. Air con would be nice in the rooms, but the ceiling fan just about got us through the 3 night stay (roughly 35 degrees daytime temps). The children loved the pool which is great and the family/staff are so friendly. The real highlight is definitely the food - there is no menu, just a traditional home cooked Sicilian meal (although given the quantity of food, 'feast' might be a better description). Most of the ingredients appear to be grown on site (the tomatoes were sun drying on a rack outside the window) but just an incredible meal each night. We would recommend building this hotel into your itinerary on any trip to Sicily.

Wonderful hidden gem - food is outstanding.
We found this hotel by chance on this website and it was the luckiest hotel find we've ever made. This hotel is tucked away in a very quiet part of the countryside making it perfect for a relaxing getaway. The rooms were perfectly clean (we stayed once and then went back again!) and the service is as friendly as you could possibly want. We have 2 children (5 & 9) who had a great time in the pool, which is well laid out for the kids to play while adults can relax and keep watch. If all this wasn't enough, the best part of the entire stay was the food - it is spectacular. Do not expect a menu, you will be served the meals that have been prepared, traditional 4 courses of the some of the best food I've had in any hotel anywhere in the world. This is a truly outstanding hotel for a quiet few days in comfort with fabulous food.

Im Grossen und Ganzen war alles recht idyllisch! Schade, das Schwimmen im Pool und vor allem das Reiten auf dem Hof nicht möglich war, trotz Ankündigung und vorherigem E-Mail-Verkehr! Beim Frühstück hätte ich Produkte des Hofes erhofft, aber es gab süsses Gebäck ( ganz sicher nicht auf dem Hof hergestellt) ohne Obst, ohne Gemüse, ohne Käse ....

Leckeres Essen und freundliche Gastgeberinnen
Nach abenteuerlicher Anfahrt über engste Straße und steilab verlaufende Schotterpiste haben wir das wunderschöne Haus erreicht. Sehr freundliche, hilfsbereite und lustige Gastgeberinnen, unglaublich leckeres Abendessen von Giacomo (2 Gänge sind voll ausreichend) und exzellenter Wein aus eigenem Bio-Anbau. Schöner Pool und sehr ruhige Lage. Guter Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und auch andere Touristen kennengelernt, mit denen wir beim Abendessen zusammen saßen.

Rustig verblijf in de natuur
Rustige en mooie accommodatie in de natuur, met een heerlijk zwembad. De boerderij heeft een heel mooi binnenplein. De kamers zijn eenvoudig maar proper. Er is geen koelkast of airco op de kamer. Er is wel een gemeenschappelijke koeklkast in de gang die kan gebruikt worden. In de kamer hangt een ventilator. Wie in "Il Casale delle Rose" verblijft moet absoluut genieten van de kookkunsten van de gastheer. Voor een zeer aantrekkelijke prijs krijgt men er een heerlijk dinner voorgeschoteld. In de omgeving is er voldoende te bezichtigen, indien men over een wagen beschikt.

Herzliche familiäre Atmosphäre, aber keinesfalls aufdringlich. Das Personal und die Besitzer stellten sich mit Vornamen vor. Der Koch (Giacomo, 72 Jahre) allein war eine Reise wert. Er war in seinem 1. Leben Journalist in Agrigent und ist geschichtlich sehr bewandert und konnte deshalb seine Kompetenzen nicht nur über seine Kochrezepte zum Besten geben (allerdings nur auf Italienisch). Meine Kinder, beides Vegetarier mit veganischen Tendenzen (Tochter) konnten mit gegrilltem Gemüse und Obst aus eigenem Anbau zufrieden gestellt werden. Der Swimmingpool ist ca. 20 m lang und 5 m breit (wird täglich gereinigt) und es gibt reichlich Sitzgelegenheiten (ca. 30 Personen). Wir waren Mitte/Ende September da und waren die einzigen Leute am Swimmingpool und hatten absolute Ruhe. Cave: Ende September kann es heftig regnen, was in 5 Tagen eineinhalb Tage lang der Fall war. Dann muss man Bücher dabeihaben oder sich in Museen herumdrücken. Zum Frühstück gibt es gepressten Orangensaft von eigenen Orangenbäumen, selbst gebackenen Kuchen und italienische Cornetti (Hörnchen). Zum Abendessen gibt es Rotwein aus eigenem Anbau, und für die Fleischesser u.a. hervorragend gewürzte Salsicce (Bratwurst ähnlich) und raffiniert zubereitete Beilagen. Giacomo erkundigt sich immer, was seine Gäste mögen und erklärt auch, was es am Folgeabend gibt. Fischliebhaber kommen in Caltagirone auf ihre Kosten. Die Zimmer haben Balkon, sind aber nicht allzu groß, aber nach einem erlebnisreichen Tag ausreichend

En trevlig gård som gjorts om till mindre hotell. Lite svårt att hitta p g a dålig skyltning. Inte så mkt att göra vid hotellet men Cartagirone ligger nära med mer sevärdheter. Ta gärna turisttåget vid katedralen så får man en bra bild över vad som är värt att titta närmare på

Excellent B&B dans la banlieue de Caltagirone. Très bien situé, au milieu de la nature tout en étant très proche de la ville. Chambre qui ne paie pas de mine mais qui est amplement suffisante. Cadre et domaine sublime. Personnel aux petits soins. Nous avons dîné sur place lors de notre séjour et la nourriture était tout simple extra, un véritable concentré de Sicile en trois assiettes. Vivement recommandé !

Accueil sympathique et très professionnel, une très bonne cuisine préparée avec les produits de l'exploitation à un prix défiant la concurrence. Environnement perdu dans la campagne. Pour trouver votre hébergement, quitter la route principale via croce del vicario car le 81 ne se trouve pas directement sur la via Croce: après la rue F. Schiciano sur votre droite en venant de Caltagirone, prendre un petit chemin qui descend dans la campagne où figure une pancarte en bois très discrète (ce chemin si je me souviens se trouve après le n° 61 de la via Croce del vicario)

Rustikales, ländliches Hotel mit sehr gutem Essen
Wir haben das Hotel als Zwischenstation auf einer Rundreise genutzt und dort eine Nacht verbracht. Das Abendessen war erstklassig - ein großes Lob an den Koch. Das Frühstück war nicht so reichhaltig in der Auswahl wie in einem größeren Hotel, aber ebenfalls qualitativ hochwertig.

C'est très agréable de se retrouver en pleine campagne avec chèvres, chevaux, vaches. Nous avons eu un souper 5* tout provenait de la ferme. je le recommande et je reviendrai un jour.

Sicilia, terra dal profumo inebriante di zagare. Aranceti, peri,meli e mandorli a non finire. Prodotti biologici lavorati in casa. Sapori autentici e salutari dal gusto sopraffino. Estesi vigneti in serre che respirano l'aria del mare. Moscato e Malvasia arricchiscono la tavola. Tutto questo, oltre ad una ospitale accoglienza e disponibilità, completa il colorato quadro naturale, la buona cucina soddisfa il palato e la serenità si conserva negli animi contenti.

Wonderful place to stay away from cities
A superb place to stay, orange and lemon orchards,frog choirs at night, bees humming in the morning. And an amazing chef, dinners were to die for. And fresh blood orange juice in the morning while smelling orange blossoms was wonderful. The only thing was as we didnt speak Italian it caused some confussions, but apart from that the stay was excellent.

Nous avons eu de la difficulté à rejoindre cette hôtel.Le trajet pour se rendre n'est pas évident ,la propriété n'est pas signalisée adéquatement.La nourriture est excellent,belle piscine mérite un détour lors d'un passage à Caltagirone.
